About this deal

Making the glaze is super simple - combine all ingredients in a stand mixer and whisk till combined, alternatively you can whisk by hand, just be sure to get all lumps out. Many dangerous, fascinating and even hilarious situations occur as we accompany the children on their adventures and sometimes a visit to the tree will become so involved that it may take up two or more chapters during which the characters stray into deeper and darker circumstances. Near the end of the book Silky, Moon-Face and Saucepan are nowhere to be found and the children are informed of this by another inhabitant of the Faraway Tree — Mr Watzisname who visits them and even stays the night at their home.

The titles in the series are The Enchanted Wood (1939), The Magic Faraway Tree (1943), The Folk of the Faraway Tree (1946) and Up the Faraway Tree (1951). Jo is helped with his problem when the Land of Spells hovers over the tree but another situation arises and this time it's because of the Saucepan Man's carelessness. At the very top of the tree they discover a ladder which leads them to a magical land which is different on each visit, because each place moves on from the top of the tree to make way for a new land. Stunning photography, engaging stories and history - the book is packed with all the practical information you need - directions, route maps and downloadable guides.

Due to his lack of knowledge regarding the Faraway Tree, Dick has some more wetness added to his clothing because there happens to be a washer-woman further up who uses a considerable amount of water in her trade although the book doesn't tell us how it is piped up to her place of residence. I’m quite terrible with knowing the dimensions of my baking tins, so I have no idea what I used - find something that will fit roughly 9-12 hot cross buns in it. Dick (later Rick), the cousin of Jo, Bessie and Fanny, comes to stay and he joins the secret adventures in the lands of the Faraway Tree. There are so many interesting takes on the magical foods that the children feast on when exploring the tree but I’ve yet to see an (what I think is) accurate portrayal of Google Buns. There follows a big hunt and to make matters worse there is an invasion of the Tree by people from a rather horrible land which is visiting.

Line a tin with baking paper and allow it to hang over the sides - this will allow you to pull the buns out easily after baking. The stories take place in an enchanted wood in which a gigantic magical tree grows – the eponymous 'Faraway Tree'. In 1997, stories from the novels were adapted into animated ten-minute episodes for the TV series Enid Blyton's Enchanted Lands. They go to the wood to meet Jo, Bessie and Fanny and meet some of the wood's residents, including Silky and Moon Face. I used a hot cross bun recipe, I really wanted that fluffy texture that’s not quite so sweet, with the subtle spiced flavours to have as a direct comparison to the burst of sweet sherbet from the inside.

magical walks through Britain's most popular hiking and swimming region, combining classic Lakes fell walking with adventurous swimming. At first, Connie refuses to believe in the Faraway Tree or the magical folk who live in it, even when the Angry Pixie throws ink at her and when Dame Washalot soaks her. There is also a visit to The Old Woman who Lives in a Shoe and you can imagine how uncomfortable that could turn out to be, and — "Is it a bird? The perfect introduction to the enchanted world of the Magic Faraway Tree for the youngest children. It's a table soaring skyward with the children squeezed on it followed by a bench bearing Moon-Face, Silky and Saucepan and if you don't believe a situation like this could take place just take a look at the Dorothy Wheeler picture.

Once an hour has passed and your dough has doubled in size, take it from the bowl and give it a quick knead before breaking it into roughly 12 equally sized pieces (first time I made this I got 9, second time 12, really depends how big you want your buns).
