The star vehicle of the groundbreaking work was the Eagle, the venerable workhorse of Moon Base Alpha. However, its unique look captured the attention of Gerry Anderson’s production team who transformed it into the futuristic Moonbuggy depicted in Space:1999. The decals wanted to stick quickly, so I added a few drops of water to the surface before sliding the marking from the backing paper. MPC builds onto its lineup of 14” Eagles by adding the popular “laboratory pod” along with the powerful spine booster.

I painted the tubular frames then glued them in place around the walkways, setting the parts aside to dry completely. It comes moulded in two colours with clear parts and includes water-slide decals and assembly guide.I think I would feel much more comfortable masking and painting the panelling on a larger model, I may need to do a larger Eagle at some point and I'd have a bit more confidence with it having done this one.

It was ideal for industrial and agricultural uses with “wide appeal among sportsmen who do not want to be limited by terrain”. I painted them flat black and installed the parts along with the flying display piece for the stand. Although some subjects in their catalogue (science fiction and real aircraft) seem accurate, the Eagle and Ultra Probe are weirdly distorted and probably the least accurate models ever made. You have the option of building the stun gun as a season 1 version with the flat top or a season 2 version with two different versions of the stun/kill switch. I've bought some black photographic sheeting to hang behind my models when photographing them, but I've not got around to trying it yet. Each kit features authentic details copied from the production props like the buttons, knobs, and switches.
