Levan makes a memorable appearance, as he indulges in a headstand, in his neighbouring garden, while wearing a pair of bright orange speedos. Having read a number of this authors other books I was delighted to receive an ARC of this novel and looked forward to reading it but I'm sad to say I was disappointed. Of course, as with all Phillipa’s books, there are some wonderful characters, and they add depth to the story.I loved characters, the three women from different generations, who’ve been there for each other through the good times and bad. When Eden steps out of her beautiful coastal cottage to find a Speedo-wearing, suntanned stranger doing yoga in next door's garden, she is immediately on her guard.

Throw in a touch of cloak and dagger to the romance and the story kept me hooked all the way through. I realized that I need to continue only when I had a chuck of time, since I knew it would be difficult to stop! Grab yourself a copy of A Secret Cornish Summer if you need something to read by the pool this summer. I liked how he tried to do the right thing with Eden and also I really enjoyed his friendship with Iris, and her little story twist even more. Iris and Edan are sat in kitchen thinking about the Yarrows, 'it's not as if we've ever been their actual neighbours.The descriptions of the cottages and the lighthouse are so vivid that you can really picture what Eden is seeing as she goes to work and back home to the cottages. A new owner of the cottage next door, might just be the one person who maybe able to change her thinking. The setting and characterisations are perfect, and I was able to relax in the knowledge that I was in expert hands. Secrets from the past, new beginnings, wonderful friendships, community spirit and the healing power of love, openness and honesty! But as she gets to know Levan, Eden begins to wonder if he might be different - until she discovers he's not quite what he seems.
