All the characters are great: the two children are definitely a fun addition to the story (and this is coming from someone who cannot stand kids). A gothic love story meets gothic horror story, with expert pacing, dark family secrets, and a twisted reveal I didn't see coming.Marin, Evie, Wren, Thea, and Neera were wonderful characters and I found myself attaching to Marin pretty quickly. It’s definitely the type of thriller that ramps up the tension at such a slow pace you don’t realise just how creeped out you are until there’s a moment with unexplained blood leading up to a bedroom window where something has definitely just crawled either to or from.
