About this deal

It instantly captures your attention, but that’s what Cressida Cowell’s writing and imagination does and this book doesn’t disappoint. But, with the fate of two worlds in their hands, will the twins be able to work together for once to defeat Morg and her dark magic?

Mafalda is a nine-year-old girl who knows one thing: some time in the next six months her sight will fail completely. Polly Crosby tells ReadingZone about her novel, This Tale is Forbidden (Scholastic), a fractured fairy tale set in a dystopian world. There are lots of explanations for the types of magic people have, and the magic people can use is different from what you might expect. The you have two sets of siblings who are at loggerheads and my favourite character by far Annipeck who was the cutest bean plus a lot of adventure which makes the reader feel that they have been on too. One of the standout aspects of “Which way to Anywhere” is Cowell’s exceptional ability to ignite the reader’s imagination. I’m looking forward to getting to know the Aunts better; they have the potential to be fabulously fun to follow around.

The disapproving parents, the tiny creature that speaks in a funny way and the older family member that hates one of the main characters. I hope something similar happens because this book sometimes felt like Cressida playing the same cards for the third time.It has laughs, silliness, seriousness, a diverse blended family, a shy boy with a secret gift, an environmental message, magical maps of other worlds, monstrous beasts, a robot assassin, a pacey plot and Cowell's trademark riotous drawings. Mae hwn yn llyfr hawdd i’w ddarllen gyda llawer o ddarluniadau, sy’n berffaith ar gyfer y rheini sy’n edmygu cyfres Cowell How to Train Your Dragon a Wizards of Once. The child heroes in this story seem at first like fairly rather unremarkable people but when faced with huge challenges of having to save their parents and world ending threats, they actually end up being incredibly brave and creative. Lots of time is spent on the fantastical other worldly parts of the story, and while Cressida excels at writing the fantastical, I feel like a lot of the emotional character-driven aspect was lost. But K2 and his sister Izzabird have been sworn to silence about their family's magical legacy - and they themselves are not aware of the value of the drawings.

I felt like there were too many characters, magical objects and otherworldly beings to get to know the main characters. On the whole, Which Way to Anywhere was a whimsical read filled with imaginative landscapes and the main character, K2 is relatable in that he doesn’t feel good enough or comfortable in his own abilities. Then (picturing this in theatre) the entire cast hurts themselves back stage and then random people from the street take there roles. I hate to say, but really when all this book has is 4 kids, an evil force that they only encounter once and an illegal piece of paper; it's just a pile of words.
