About this deal

In August of 2013, we covered this European release of Hard Target, which was produced by Universal Studios for the UK market. If you can watch it in HDR, and tolerate the odd moment of distinct aural displacement, it's actually a whole lot of fun revisiting this action classic, which has certainly been done justice by some tremendous native 4K remastering. Our hero and villain share very little screentime together but it’s a classic dynamic both actors play well. Shadows and colors are richly rewarded while maintaining the film’s lean towards yellow golden summer tones.

Not to mention the strange star power of Jean-Claude Van Damme, who plays Chance Boudreaux, a Cajun former Marine who finds himself pit against Emil Fouchon (Lance Henriksen), the organizer of the manhunts. In fact, simple things like closing car doors can sound a bit off, as discrete noises which are just not in quite the right place within the soundscape, feel 'thrown' across the array. Density levels are good, Fluidity is much better as well, so if you view on a larger screen this will be a substantial improvement that you will have a very easy time appreciating.Limited edition has a nice hard box, steelbook is cool with some embossing on the text, a booklet about the movie and some cool art cards, the poster is only small though. KayKay on Jake Gyllenhaal goes full on Jackie Chan in the Trailer for Doug Liman’s ‘Road House’ also starring Conor McGregor Eh. The UHD disc comes with an informative commentary by action film historians Brandon Bently and Mike Leeder that contextualize the film within Woo and Jean-Claude Van Damme’s careers, while the accompanying Blu-ray contains short interviews with the cast and crew, including Woo, actors Lance Henriksen and Yancy Butler, and stunt coordinator Billy Burton.

In any given scene, some shots will have no grain at all while others will have a coarse coating of it. Signs of digital processing such as Noise Reduction or electronic sharpening are occasionally apparent, but they’re generally not too heavy-handed or distracting. In addition to that, the Blu-ray disc in the case also contains new interviews with John Woo, Lance Henriksen, Yancy Butler, and the film’s stunt coordinator, as well as one trailer for Hard Target and several more trailers for unrelated Kino home video titles. You see, in '93 it was Woo who was the outsider, with a post- Universal Soldier Van Damme being something of a golden boy.

Ningen on Jake Gyllenhaal goes full on Jackie Chan in the Trailer for Doug Liman’s ‘Road House’ also starring Conor McGregor But did you see Road House *2*? Presenting the 100-minute international cut—and not, as many hoped, John Woo’s proper 116-minute director’s cut, material for which exists in too poor a condition for official release—this transfer does reveal a bit of wear and dirt here and there. On top of Van Damme’s established action chops, we have the first English-language Hollywood debut from action maestro John Woo.

There are some quite interesting comments about Van Damme's supposed similarity to Alain Delon, an actor Mr.
