Truly one of the worst facilities I have ever had the displeasure of attending. I've heard horror stories of the welfare, operations, and general practices that go on behind these doors, but nothing could have prepared me for what I was to witness inside. Deplorable living conditions for many animals that would not fly at all in AZA nor ZAA facilities, overcrowded enclosures or some that are absolutely not fit for animals to begin with (How about a 4mx4m enclosed glass box for a Red Kangaroo, the largest marsupial in the world). While the rare animals they have might draw you in, don't let it fool you. You can see them elsewhere and in much better conditions. If you want to get your little ones into d&d, drop everything. This is where to start. Animal Adventures uses the 5e rule set, but has been amazingly simplified and streamlined for kids. They have the 6 main stats, and it all feels very d&d. Simply put, it is a full RPG campaign straight out of the box with maps, mini and story all ready to jump straight into. ThemeAu contraire. For me, its compact little A5 “Rulebook and Adventure” booklet was always going to be an important point of critique, because, unless Animal Adventures offered something strikingly distinct that regular D&D couldn’t, I couldn’t see the point in this existing as a standalone game, with its own starter set. Steamforged Games could merely have released 5E sourcebooks and minis for its primary-coloured world of pet pals and cutesy capers, and it would have provided precisely the same content to the same people. During the live demonstration of these animals, improper handling of a Ferret and Chinchilla were shown, contorting their bodies to an absurd degree wherein you could see the animals were visibly stressed. I consider myself a "veteran" of animal experiences in numerous venues from Zoos to Farms and Rescue Centers all over the world. This place is a rescue center so it does not have a "commercial" feel about it. I did a Dolphin Swim with rescue dolphins in a place that looked nothing like Sea World or Marineland but it was still an educational experience. This place is VERY rustic. If you arrange an animal encounter you will probably enjoy it. Just be prepared that the facility is like a campground that houses several exotic animals. I don't doubt that the staff care about the animals here, even they need to be fed, cared for, et cetera. However, this purely lies upon the duty of management and the owner, Ed, to improve the living conditions of the animals he has in his possession. I would happily change my thoughts on this facility of the property were properly cared for and managed to showcase better enclosures for all of these animals. It covers 36 acres with many areas and attractions to visit. Including the ever popular Monkey Valley, The Reptile House and the big cats at the Land of Lions. 2) Marwell Zoo

On your journies you’ll face off against vicious goblins, swarms of mutant rats, encounter huge hidden beast and the evil doktor himself. You will be exploring dark forests, creepy old mansions and ofcoarse the hidden laboratory. Thought-provoking it ain’t – but it’s simple and engaging enough, and the combination of game map, minis, and enemy tokens do a solid job of bringing the scenario to life, for players whose ‘Theatre of the Mind’ muscles are only just developing. The adventure itself is straight up and down, well-trodden level one Dungeons and Dragons fare – a rescue mission in a mad alchemist’s lair that’ll see your paw-footed party sneaking through a sewer, battling undead critters, and investigating rooms in the headquarters of the dastardly… sigh… Doktor Krankensteen.
Not simply for the abilities it can grant the owner, mind, but because stories hold that the adventurers who unite five particular genius loci — though no one knows which — will be granted astonishing power. This is a full RPG campaign made for beginners, it comes with a full story included in the box that helps the dm walk you through the story but also allows for little minds to really dip into them fantastical imaginations. There is tons of room for exploration and discovery throughout the story, which the kids I played with loved the freedom of.
