Please note that if you use shaving cream with your Series 5, you’llhave tomanually clean any lather or soap residues before placing the shaver into the cleaning station. The 5145s and 5195cc are absolutely identical in terms of performance whether you use them wet or dry. And speaking of which, I was only referring to the fact that Braun shavers in general aren’t significantly better during a wet shave compared to simply using them dry. For example, this difference is more noticeable in the case of other brands. But you could definitely use either of them with shaving cream if you choose so. There are a few foil shavers with only two cutting elements, but the performance is far from stellar. They also don’t come with a cleaning station and the reliability isn’t the best (for example in the case of Wahl shavers). The shaver features an 8-D pivoting head that allows the shaver to adapt to the facial curves and catch maximum hairs with skin comfort. It comes with a sturdy travel case that was not provided in the predecessor model. The manufacturer implemented a 3-stage LED display that looks more advanced than the premium Series 7 shavers.
And while it wasn’t by any means horrible, the Braun Series 5 5018s did require more work when used on a 3 days beard. Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it. While Panasonic shavers are in general easier to clean manually, in your case I think a Braun will be much better suited for the job. They’re superior to Panasonic when shaving curly/wiry hairs and are gentler to sensitive skin, especially during a dry shave. Also, Panasonic electric razors work best on short, straight hairs and shave really close, which in the case of curly facial hair can increase the odds of getting ingrown hairs and bumps. In this manner your costs will be minimal and this will prevent dirt buildups inside the cassette. 2. Wet & dry use
The rest of the things that vary throughout the Series 5 line are not that important and, again, won’t affect the performance of the shavers or provide any particular benefits. Below you’ll find a table with the differences between the Braun Series 5 and Series 5² models. Model I would personally opt for the 5050cc for the reasons outlined above and because it also costs less. First of all, I had to use even slower strokes to avoid hairs getting pulled. On a short beard, it wasn’t usually a problem, but in this situation more attention was needed. I had to switch to the beard trimmer and cut them — this is when I also missed having an integrated trimmer that I could just extend and use.
