It depends on the size of your room and the difference between ambient and desired temperatures, but during our testing the AM09 got up to temperature in under five minutes. Of course, at the time of writing in mid-April, the ambient temperature of roughly 20 degrees is a world away from a cold British winter evening, so we’ll have to return to testing later in the year to see whether it maintains these speeds. Not surprisingly, the AM09 also earns accolades for its functional design as well. The remote on the Dyson AM09 is conveniently designed, with buttons that are intuitive and easy to press. We love that the cooling and heating buttons allow us to switch between fan mode and heating mode with the touch of a finger. We also appreciate the magnet that holds the remote on the top of the unit. Once you get in the habit of storing it there, it holds securely and will stay there indefinitely.As noted earlier, the headline new feature on the AM09 is its Jet Focus tech, which lets you project the warm or cooling airflow at an individual. It uses the Coanda effect, which causes air to charge direction as it travels over a surface, and two aperture rings to regulate the spread and direction of air generated.
