I seriously could not put this book down. I was truly invested in all the drama, suspense, and secrets. Can’t wait for the final book in this trilogy. I liked seeing Bianca's dad get his stuff together ( sort of) and how he didn't disowned his own daughter for being with Callum despite everything he believed to be true about him.

Sooooo this was my first "Best friend's dad romance" book and let me tell you it did not disappoint.Callum Torrio is that possessive Mafia Daddy ok? He is the boss and he lets everyone know it. Bianca is a shy girl that has had a crush on her BFF's dad for a long time and she thought "ok nvm nothing is gonna happen but let me take a sneak peak" well that sneak peek let to a whole lotta stuff ok? Callum and Bianca’s relationship is a forbidden, dark, suspenseful one, with a lot of secrets, lies, and intensity. Callum is Bianca’s best friend Tatum’s father and 22 years older than her. He’s also a notorious arms dealer who lives a dangerous lifestyle that Bianca is not accustomed to. Book 1 goes more into the details of their relationship development, where book 2 is more about Callum and Bianca coming to terms with their feelings and how they can live their lives together. There is so much internal struggle in both of them yet I still find myself rooting for them. Can Callum redeem himself after all of the lies? Can Bianca forgive him and fully give in to him? Will Bianca’s secret change everything? (IYKYK).

Bianca became one strong women. While pregnant with the baby she knew she had to be strong and protect it. She would do anything for her family including murder. She made sure Callum knew he was wrong and did not take any crap from him. She knew that she didn't need to rely on him and be independent but love him at the same time. She communicated her feelings a lot better and chose herself before worrying about anyone else's feelings. Callum Torrio is the mafia boss. Hundreds of employees answering to him and only him. Living in the mansion with his daughter he trusts only himself. So what does he do when the girl he has been obsessed with finds him in a compromising position? One that they both enjoyed? Because now that he finally has her, he will be damned if he will let her go. Callum and Bianca...they had so many ups and downs throughout the series, im so happy for them they got their HEA..they deserve all the love and we finally get answers surrounding Bianca's mom's death 😮‍💨....but i wanted to know that do they have a boy or girl 🥲 maybe we'll get to know that in dark knight?😶‍🌫️ Bianca has had a crush on her best friend's dad forever, but she always knew it was wrong. He does not feel the same way and she would have to keep living in her fantasy. Until she sees him next to the pool one night and everything changes. Will she finally have her fantasy? Or will it turn uot to be a nightmare? Bianca has had a crush on her best friends father Callum, since she was sixteen years old. Finding herself having to move in with her best friend and her father, she catches Callum with a women one night. Does she leave once she catches them or does she stay and watch?Maddie Sullivan’s his daughter’s best friend and she knows exactly how to tempt the man hidden underneath the suit. Makes him want to break all of the rules, with the biggest one being: sleeping with her. When his daughter goes abroad for the summer to explore Europe all of the rules that he has spent years upholding get broken with just one kiss. One taste and he’s trapped, with the need to consume her taking its hold over him.

I’m really hoping that Tatum and Romero have their own book because I’m also invested in whether or not they are able to work out their issues. Bianca was so strong; she has been through so much with Callum, and finally being able to tell him what she wants and needs without him dictating what she does was something else considering how it started between them. She needed to set healthy boundaries. She loves him with all her heart, but she can't be his little caged bird anymore. For the past 5 years Callum Torrino is all Bianca has thought about. Fantasized about. What she would do to make him hers. But he is her best friend’s dad and that kind of makes him off limits. Until one night… And oh what a night. I know I know you're gonna say something along the lines of "OMG KK isn't that wrong?" but listen this is dark romance, we leave our morals at the door. And if the pregnancy trope is a deal breaker for you she doesn't end up pregnant at the end of this book.... at least that we know of ;) Bianca is pregnant, and that is foremost on everyone's mind. She and Tutum are under a lot of stress with all the danger they have been exposed to. Not all of Callum's business dealings have been on the up and up. Unfortunately, his past is returning to cause trouble for him, putting his family through hell. The need for protection is higher than ever before. Callum is going out of his ever-loving mind, trying to arrange for the safety of his adult daughter, his unborn child, and the woman he loves. Too bad his arch-nemesis, Bianca's dad Charlie, didn't get the memo that he isn't the bad guy after all. The danger keeps finding Bianca, thanks to all of Callum's enemies. The race is on to end the threats against his family before someone ends up paying the ultimate price. To top it all off, secrets are revealed, and the consequences are dire. The question is, will Callum and Bianca ever get their happy ever after?I love that we get to continue Empire of Lies by starting off from the cliffhanger in the first book. Okay, so I thought Callum was crazy in book 1, but he is so freaking unhinged in book 2, but I really enjoyed his character in Empire of Lies since we get to see how much Bianca has affected him both emotionally and physically. I also enjoyed seeing Bianca’s character how she was able to resist Callum and his temptation. Both Bianca and Callum, have such great character development in this book. Callum shows his true feelings for Bianca and would go through great lengths for both Bianca and for his daughter, Tatum. Bianca has grown a great deal, from being the naive girl to a women who is resilient and fierce. Her ideas can be quite random. She’ll just get this tiny glimpse from some scene in the novel and she’ll suddenly find herself sitting down and typing, and typing. Before you know it, the entire book is written. I lapped up Book 1 because an obsessive, over the top, possessive bad boy (or very much a man in this case) is right up my street! Don't judge me... Ultimately though, we also get a decent plot that turns into quite the 'whodunnit' and keeps the story zipping along. Can Callum be redeemed? Hmmm....
