About this deal

When Kim finds out she’s pregnant with her teacher’s child, a new madness overtakes her, and she realizes there’s only one thing that will satisfy her baby’s hunger . . .

Now, Triana doesn’t convey Kim as an ugly nobody. She’s a popular cheerleader and is absolutely gorgeous. However, she is still a teenager. While she conveys typical teenager behavior, such as obsessing over losing her virginity, Triana mentions some of the details to make Kim’s character realistic. She talks about her period, compares herself to her best friend (something all women do, no matter how attractive we are), and discusses her weird meat cravings, which yes us women get crazy cravings. Sixteen-year-old Kim White is not like most of her peers. For one thing: she is attractive, popular, and comes from a wealthy family, but she hates it all. She’s “grown weary of the same brats and bitches” in her life at school and has no interest in sex or in being touched or losing her virginity to some “hairy flesh-bag… belching out testosterone-fueled lies and flexing their incomplete, teenage bodies.” She, however, is intrigued by how her friends tell her sex has changed their lives: “suddenly your childhood is gone, and the whole world just looks different.” Even more intriguing to Kim is the hardcore bondage porn she discovers on the Internet. She begins to think losing her virginity “to an adult—and a teacher at that—would be an unconventional, drastic move. It would be a dark and dirty thing with all of the makings of a game-changer.” And thus, the fun—and the terror—begins in Kristopher Triana’s latest dark thriller, Full Brutal (2018). Non c'è un attimo di tregua, una montagna russa che ti contorce le budella, ti nausea e ti spappola al sedile. This book will not be for everyone but it was definitely for me. It managed to take my mind off of the current nightmarish timeline we’re caught up in and thrust me into someone else's for a few hours. Her first-time having sex also wasn’t anything amazing. Triana describes her first time as awkward, gross, and not a life-changing experience at all. The “first-time” is often fetishized and Triana described a scenario that many of us can relate to. The High School Drama Got Boring Criminals, in general, are often the last person you would expect. So I enjoy Triana’s main psychopathic character being a popular, high school cheerleader. She commits all of these atrocities and no one suspects it was her. The best part? Others get framed. Allucinante è dire poco, non sono facilmente impressionabile, ma cazzo, Triana non ci gira intorno nemmeno un po' alle cose. That’s the brilliance of this blood-soaked book: you’re rooting for the bad guy. You IDENTIFY with her. There’s a good deal of social commentary here, much like with Caroline Kepnes’s YOU (though infinitely more depraved), and Triana deftly weaves this into his tale of debasement and butchery. Watching as Kim manipulates literally EVERYONE to her whim and fancy is nothing short of brilliant, further adding to the appeal of this character who, by all rights, should be utterly reviled by any sane human being. One of the reasons why my friend recommended Full Brutal is how well Triana conveys Kim. While Kim is a psychopath, she’s a teenager going through all of the typical womanly crap. And he conveys these whirlwinds of emotions and gross female body stuff well.

This novel is famous for its opening line: “When I was a young lad twenty or thirty or forty years ago I lived in a small town where they were all after me on account of what I done on Mrs. Nugent.” The book gets more and more violent—first in the usual ways of hardscrabble life, with an abusive father, with neighborhood fights, with a job at the slaughterhouse, but then in less usual ways. Nothing, of course, compares to the moment when you find out exactly what he done. Speravo con tutta me stessa che non fosse una delusione e per fortuna non lo è stata. Anzi. Ho amato ogni singola parola e credo che sia il libro che ho "linguettato" di più! As you can guess, I love stories that feature female killers. Hello, have you read Dissecting House? Now, more psychopathic female murderers are starting to become more popular as opposed to women killing in revenge horror, which is where we previously saw most female killers in horror. I absolutely love this trend, so I’m always on the hunt for a good crazy female serial killer story. This story follows high school Junior, Kim White, who is beautiful, smart, popular and the star of the cheer squad. Girls want to be her and everyone wants to be with her. She has the world in the palm of her hand.Kim is the main character here. She’s about the age of 16, very pretty, popular, and a cheerleader. On the outside, she seems like the typical teenager. She hangs out with friends, hosts house parties, is devoted to cheerleading, and balances all of this while attending school and making good grades. She’s not only popular with students but also with teachers, as she’s a good student. Kim also lives in a typical suburban town, one where people flip their shit if anything happens — especially murder. The final few chapters included probably the most grossest of gross scenes that I have ever read in my entire horror-loving life. I can't even wrap my head around it all. Kim seems perfect. She is perfect. She says and does all the right things. According to her father, her teachers, and her friends.

It's twisted, deranged and I enjoyed how it sort of flipped the script on the sex-violence connection. After Kim discovers her attraction to torture porn, her imagination runs wild and she'll stop at nothing to reach new levels of euphoria.

My problem with men writing female characters is how most of the characters aren’t realistic and are often over-sexualized. Full Brutal's reception as a splatterpunk novel was well received. Many critics praised the novel's abundance of violence and gore. In particular, Kristopher Triana's depiction of a female perspective was praised, with critics claiming that it perfectly conveyed Kim's experience with her sadistic traits, but also with her struggles with womanhood. [3] Full Brutal is Splatterpunk gold. It delivered exactly what it intended. There are no limits in this story. Nothing is out of bounds. I have never curled my toes so tightly and had my stomach churn so violently whilst reading.
