If you’d bought the FX2’s bigger brother, the FX4, you could have drained the water from the canister directly into the tub using the filter’s drain valve, a great feature that the FX2 is missing unfortunately. Now cut your input and output hoses to the correct length, allowing at least 6″ beyond the rim of your aquarium. The covers need to be fitted vertically.
