About this deal

Close of gaps and get a tight seal on your garage door by installing a garage door threshold kit. The Threshold Kits are easy to install, and come complete with threshold, adhesive, and instructions. The threshold is adhered to the floor where the garage door comes down. If you have an uneven floor that causes larger gaps in different areas of the door, you can offset the threshold installation so that the peak of the threshold meets the door at the high gap areas and the smaller gaps line up with the narrow part of the threshold. The threshold including door frame should not be more than 15mm in height overall. Of these 15mm, there should be a minimum number of upstands and slopes, with any upstands higher than 5mm chamfered. The required length of the garage door threshold is easy to measure. Just use a tape measure to determine the length of the garage door opening and look for a product that is slightly longer. This extra length ensures that the threshold can be customized to the specific garage door to form a watertight seal.

Most of our bottom seals slide into the current retainer on the garage door. To determine what type of retainer you have simply pull out a corner of your bottom seal to expose the retainer. Most standard retainers are a double or single channel. If you have a double channel you'll want to see if it's shaped like a T, or if it has an oval shape or round shape which should fit a Bead or P End bottom seal. Wood garage doors typically use a simple strip-style seal with angled edges that seal against the front of the door and the floor. These typically are installed with galvanized or aluminum roofing nails. Close the garage door to allow the weight to secure the threshold while the adhesive cures for about 24 hours. After finding the correct height, look for a suitable garage door threshold that will fit the space while forming a tight, waterproof seal. For homes that have frequent problems with standing rainwater and storms, investing in a taller threshold is recommended. By installing this taller threshold slightly away from the garage door, it still creates a seal while allowing the door to close easily. Length

The way our garage door threshold seals work is that after you have successfully affixed them to the garage door and floor or roller shutter door and floor then a watertight seal is created up to the height of that seal. This then prevents any rainfall from getting into your premises and allows you to feel fully protected from the elements. A garage door weather seal bottom is a long rubber or vinyl strip attached to the bottom of your garage door. There are multiple types of garage door bottom seals you can choose from, including a garage door bottom seal for uneven concrete, making this a highly versatile and convenient solution. Garage door threshold seals look pretty similar when held up side by side, so we looked at specific features to identify the best options. Available lengths and the ability to trim the strip to size were the first critical features. We excluded thresholds made with materials that were inflexible or insufficiently waterproof.Door thresholds are normally installed with the use of an adhesive, regardless of the type of garage floor. As long as the concrete floor is clean and relatively level, it’s easy and safe to install a garage door threshold on a concrete floor with adhesive. Why Trust Bob Vila
