Gyrobot has occasionally been on display at the Museum of Computing in Swindon. It currently resides in Steve Wood's garage. It would be great to automate the various parts of the software tool chain into a wrapped up turnkey solution (free and open source of course), effectively to de-skill the process further. However this is outside of my individual skill set, although I am happy to collaborate further if anyone is interested. Now that you've salvaged hundreds of Metal and Magic scrap, what can you do with it? BUILD COOL STUFF!! Once you've found a kit and started Salvaging stuff, you're well on your way to becoming a Legend in Tinkering! The Dev's Discord post linked at the very top of this guide gives all the dirty details, which are scattered throughout this guide, but in shorthand: If you craft a bot at Excellent quality, then later your skill increases enough that you're able to craft those bots at Artisan quality, you can spend scrap to upgrade Excellent->Artisan. This applies to all different quality levels, one step at a time.

In comparison, Onslaught in Series 5 was roughly .14m 3 and weighed 99kg. Gyrobot was the only newcomer in Heat B of Series 7. It was also the only robot in that heat not to lose in the first round of a UK Championship.

After sustaining early damage from Fluffy, Gyrobot played a tactical fight, avoiding the action while accelerating its rim spinner. Once Fluffy had become immobilised, Gyrobot took the opportunity to cause damage to its opponents, and pushed Terror Turtle into the arena wall. Although Gyrobot lost the use of its spinner, it and Terror Turtle were the only robots with full mobility at the end of the battle, and Gyrobot was declared the winner of the battle, qualifying for the Seventh Wars. Fluffy and Terror Turtle also qualified alongside it. If you get Tinkering to Legendary level, it says you can repair anything! Not true though, see the repair section. If Gyrobot had qualified for Series 9, its 40kg rim would have been the heaviest weapon in the series. Repairing/Upgrading items pretty reliably levels the skill, but there are not many opportunities for this unless you want to waste your scrap on items you'll just end up getting rid of. Wet-and-dry cleaning is enabled by the rotating bristles on one side, and the water tank plus mop base on the other. That said, we’d advise manually cleaning the mop base from time to time to ensure residual dirt isn’t dragged throughout your house.

Gyrobot first entered the design and build phase in December 2000, with an initial view to entering Series 5. Early CAD drawings suggest that interchangeable weapons (including a cluster of four smaller cutting discs) and conventional two or four-wheel drive systems were considered at various points during its development. The speed of the outer ring was also considerably slower at 250rpm (500rpm when the robot was spinning), a third of the maximum achievable with the Series 7 incarnation. [6]
