About this deal

The Spirit of LORD JEHOVAH God is upon me because LORD JEHOVAH anointed me, and he has sent me that I shall proclaim good news to the lowly ones, and I shall bind up the broken hearts, and I shall proclaim freedom to the captives and release to the prisoners I think this is the best quote from the book: "you are responsible as an individual before the Lord to carefully study everything anyone tells you, to see if it is consistent with the scriptures". I will try to apply that to this book. Just for the things I’ve stated at this point, alone, I would not believe anything these women have to say, but there’s much more—found in the tapes they put out, and that piece of garbage they call a book. Why does Ruth keep the title of Doctor when she was barred from medicine in Indiana? (for prescription boosting) She has not applied in any state to be reinstated. It is a fake title and misleading, and it has been only used by her to establish credibility. And then, really, from that a few years later, we began receiving inquiries about this charismatic pastor and this faith-healer by the name of Benny Hinn. And therein began a decade-long investigation that yielded numerous Journal articles, and eventually those were put into a full-size book, The Confusing World of Benny Hinn, and that book’s now in its tenth edition, and I’m sure the friends of The Berean Call are quite familiar with this. And really, the last three editions that we had published, Dave had written a foreword for us and appears in the last three editions.

I first read this book as a 15 year-old, impressionable Evangelical Christian with a fascination (not unlike my demographic at the time) for spiritual warfare and demonic activity. Now as a more sober Orthodox Christian who has read the Desert Fathers and the Philokalia, I can easily conclude that most (if not all) of Rebecca Brown's book is absolute bunk. Let me be clear: I very much believe in Our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ (and I say this to fulfill the "test of the spirit" that Brown gives in her book). Nevertheless, several things about this book are totally wrong. Here are a few: The Spirit of the LORD God has taken control of me! The LORD has chosen and sent me to tell the oppressed the good news, to heal the brokenhearted, and to announce freedom for prisoners and captives.

Paul was using a metaphor. It’s not to be taken literally. Have you never heard of people saying, “I am there with you in the spirit”, or “I won’t be there in body but I will be there in spirit”. Paul was not astral projecting himself to the Corinthian church while on the other side of the world where his body stood. This whole idea of a spirit body is demonic and totally unbibical. the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place where it was written: The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,

In the book He came to set the captives free Rebecca Brown gives instructions telling us that we must put on the whole armour of God. Now this is biblical, what makes theirs unbilbical is that they want you to literally clothe your ‘spirit body’ which according to Rebecca Brown is the same as your physical body. She quotes: Rebecca Brown and Elaine slept in the same bed since the day the met – to cover up a lesbian relationship Rebecca Brown ‘adopted’ middle-aged Elaine so as to take on Rebecca’s surname. The Spirit of Lord Yahweh is upon me Because Yahweh has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners,Strong's 4434: Poor, destitute, spiritually poor, either in a good sense (humble devout persons) or bad.

The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, The Spirit of the Lord is vpon mee, because hee hath anointed mee, to preach the Gospel to the poore, he hath sent mee to heale the broken hearted, to preach deliuerance to the captiues, and recouering of sight to the blinde, to set at libertie them that are bruised, Strong's 7307: Wind, breath, exhalation, life, anger, unsubstantiality, a region of the sky, spirit For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 53:5“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”Strong's 859: A sending away, a letting go, a release, pardon, complete forgiveness. From aphiemi; freedom; pardon. THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE DOWNTRODDEN, She also pleads the blood of Jesus over herself and others and inanimate objects (pg. 17) Please article see here about Pleading the Blood of Jesus Is it Right or Wrong? 2) Reveal diagnoses: (pgs. 12, 19)
