Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de l`Homme is a new masculine representative of the house of YSL and it appeared on the market in March 2009. The perfume is announced as one full of contrasts and tensions. For that I think it's a great scent for intimate settings, or when you lean in close to another person. Doesn't overwhelm anyone, rather it pleases one that they were the ones who got in close enough to you to catch a whiff. This is in sharp contrast to those more shower-fresh-after-gym fragrances, "blue fragrances" and "cakes and candy" fragrances.

Fresh off the atomiser, you’re greeted with a heavy blast of masculine cedar and Vetiver combination that is softened by the fresh lavender stalks. It pretty much stays like this for the duration of the rest of the wear, but a nice vetiver does begin to peak through to about the same level as the cedar. La Nuit is a warm slightly sweet and slightly spicy fragrance, that has a fresh cleanliness, and a dark character. As many have already written, the performance is its main flaw, the longevity reaches about 6 hours and the sillage is intimate, so its appropriate use is probably for romantic dates.

Perfume La Nuit de l`Homme is available in three sizes of bottle – 40ml edt, 60ml edt and100ml edt, along with perfumed deo spray in a collection. The noses behind this fragrance are Anne Flipo, Pierre Wargnye and Dominique Ropion. I blind -bought this for my partner (and I use men's colognes myself) and was pleased that for once it was not one of those sweet/ aquatic nasal-passage-destroying men's scents. I think weather/ temperature plays a big part. You wouldn't drink a glass of warm white wine nor an ice-cold glass of red, so why would you wear a blaring loud fragrance in the heat of summer?

For a time, La Nuit is quite powdery and has a really attractive aroma, as it dries down. I like the opening of this scent, but the dry down is fantastic. La Nuit De L'Homme is a fragrance that has been largely spoken of in the fragrance community. People often complain of reformulation and poor performance when it comes to this fragrance. I own one 100 ml 2009 9LAA batch with around 92 ml left and one 2010 100 ml 0CAA batch which is completely full. All I can say is that while there is a difference (older batches have heavier and darker cardamom and aren't as sweet while newer batches are sweeter, more aromatic and have an almost honey-like accord) the current batches still perform brilliantly. I have found that the 38Nxx0 batches are all incredibly close to the first formulation with some bottles of those batches being even better than the first formulation due to being even darker on the cardamom and having more depth. Even with new batches I get a solid 6 - 9 hours of longevity. Even after the 6 hour mark I've had people compliment my fragrance so people can still smell it on me after 6 hours. My current bottle that I use is a 62N101 200 ml bottle. This fragrance definitely gets a lot of compliments. Unusually for fragrantica, the options given to vote on the elements of the scent that stand out do actually represent the real smells working away in this EdT. There is a sort of spiciness to it, with a slightly acrid/bitter lime, floating around a relatively woody, earthy lavender.This mysterious and seductive fragrance is based around three pairs of contrasting notes that manage to fit perfectly together. La Nuit de L’Homme is one that has been the signature scent for many guys, since its release. It can still play that role, just not to the same degree now, with the performance issues. i have no knowledge of the versions before the one i have, i believe my batch to be December 2022, i literally put an infinite amount of sprays on last night, 20+ at least, and after less than thirty mins i had a light skin scent on me :( crying shame to be honest...

La Nuit de L'Homme is the oriental version of the original L'Homme, from which it retains many aromatic elements, but adds notes that add sensuality and make it a little sexier. Not one of those nose-blasters, wherein one walks by you and you can taste the top, middle and base notes in your mouth. I utterly appreciate the fact that it sits close to the skin, rather than announce its arrival with a huge 'LOOK AT ME! I HAVE ARRIVED!!' I think many people forget that fragrance is not just for yourself but also to please those around you. It is almost uncivic-minded in certain asian countries to intrude onto others' senses, so this is where I am coming from.
