About this deal

Whether you buy a pole or whip, your experience at fishing and the type of fish that you are fishing for should influence you. A whip tends to be a short pole - 2 to 6 metres in length. They are usually telescopic with a very fine, flexible top section where the fishing line is directly attached. Elastic rating: The elastic rating gives you the manufacturers recommendation of the largest elastic you can safely put in a pole before you risk breakages from over exertion. All goods which are supplied by us and sent outside the UK are not covered by the manufacturers usual warranty. For example if you buy a rod or pole and a section breaks within the UK warranty period we cannot claim against our supplier as their warranty is only valid inside the UK. We would always suggest that you insure expensive items against damage during use in case of breakages.

Most carp margin poles are lightweight and handle exceptionally well, unlike their predecessors that were very bendy and heavy!

Fly

Even if you land yourself with a featureless peg, the peg next door will also provide the shelter that the fish desire to feed confidently. Depth and distance

With no casting required, a far lighter float can be placed with pinpoint accuracy exactly where you want it. With shorter lengths of line in use, you get more control over your float, allowing you to manipulate your bait to appear more natural, induce bites, better combat wind and tow whilst making bites easier to hit. All these factors mean that in the right hands, a pole will normally outscore a rod and line approach fished within pole range. Any modification to sections would invalidate your warranty. For example, drilling kits for puller systems would be considered as modification, even if the sections have reinforcement to allow this, it is at your risk! Fitting nose cones would also be considered as modification.

Key Features

Cupping kit: A separate top kit specially designed to attach a pole cup, allowing you to deposit a large amount of bait right where you are fishing. If you’re looking for a carp margin pole that is 8 metres in length, the Drennan Red Range carp margin pole is ideal. Margin pole: A generally shorter pole of around 8-10m in length, that is designed with stronger carbon, reinforced joints and improved wall strength to create a very strong pole to tame even the largest fish. Frequently asked questions about margin poles Whips are perfect for beginners that fish canals and small lakes, where small fish such as Dace, Rudd, Roach, Perch, and Bream can be found and easily swung into your hand. Matrix bills its new Torque Carp Margin model as being incredibly strong. After punishing tests on big-weight UK fisheries it’s come through with flying colours.

A margin pole is a shorter, often 9m or less, super strong pole designed for fishing for very big fish that live close to near bank features. A power or carp pole is almost as strong but designed to be used at longer lengths of up to 16m. A match pole is a lighter, more rigid and easier-to-handle pole that can also be used for big fish and carp, but with care due to their decreased strength. The 2nd section of the poleis pre-fitted with a SIC Smooth-Run Side slot system and it is rated to a massive 35 elastic rating. This protects the elastic line from scuffs and possible snaps, guiding it on its retrieve. Using the correct pole float is equally important when fishing the margins. A big, bulky float is just not needed when fishing along the edge. Instead opt for a lightweight, subtle float that will indicate delicate bites without you having to strain your eyes. With the margins being home to some of the lake’s largest fish, where it is not uncommon for fish as big as 20lb+ to be patrolling the margins, it is important that your pole can pull the fish away from the swim. When plumbing your depth, it is recommended that you find a flat surface that offers at least 18 inches of depth. This allows enough room for multiple fish to compete for your feed and reduces the possibility of foul-hookers. Fishing with a pole in the margins is a great way to present a float with a subtle and light presentation that will fool even the wariest of fish.
