About this deal

An illuminating look at a little-known, inspiring piece of history we should never forget.” —Kristin Harmel, New York Times bestselling author of The Forest of Vanishing Stars After the war that cost him so much, Kylar Stern is broken and alone. He’s determined not to kill again, but an impending amnesty will pardon the one murderer he can’t let walk free. He promises himself this is the last time. One last hit to tie up the loose ends of his old, lost life. And that friend of mine who wasn't a fan - she wasn't a fan of The Warded Man either, which I loved, and I have to say that this is probably the most enjoyable read I've had since devouring Brett's The Warded Man several years ago. Like that book TWoS takes what I loved about 80's fantasy and grows it up for the more demanding, hard-edged tastes of today. Definitely recommended. Created by Jorsin Alkestes and Ezra the day before Jorsin's demise, it is the companion to Curoch. Iures differs from Curoch in that it grants no additional power, but instead allows the wielder to focus his or her power to an extreme degree, allowing them to create or undo extremely complicated weaves with ease. It also has the power to record any weaves created near it and it remembers those weaves forever. Like Curoch, the wielder can also change Iures' appearance and shape at will. Durzo Blint and Kylar both use Iures disguised as the sword Retribution. The location of Iures is not explicitly stated at the end of the trilogy, but it is highly likely that the Dark Hunter has it in Ezra's Wood. Your Majesty,” Durzo said gravely. “A man of your stature’s cursing vocabulary ought to extend beyond a tedious reiteration of the excreta that fills the void between his ears.”

But when Lola’s family is subjugated to a brutal pogrom, Dr. Ho decides to issue them visas to Shanghai. As violence against the Jews escalates after Kristallnacht and threats mount, Dr. Ho must issue thousands more to help Jews escape Vienna before World War II explodes. Waiting for the phone to ring might’ve been a little boring for promising young FBI agent Peter, but once it does, he’s tasked with protecting a terrified civilian while they unravel a conspiracy that reaches all the way to the Oval Office. But Kylar’s best–and maybe only–friend, the High King Logan Gyre, needs him. To protect a fragile peace, Logan’s new kingdom, and the king’s twin sons, he needs Kylar to secure a powerful magical artifact that was unearthed during the war. I really hate saying this, but this was a DNF for me. I made it to about 40% and could not take it anymore. I did not enjoy any part of this book and every time I started reading it I would start ranting about it. Literally the only emotion I felt when reading this was rage and anger. I do not even know where to begin other than I am so disappointed and frustrated by every aspect of this book. I had such high hopes for this book, I even bought a signed edition.

Kylar is soooooooooooooo dumb in this book. He keeps saying "[My master] taught me.... but ofc I am not following it", and "[My master] said to NEVER.... Yeah, guess what I am about to do right now?".Weina's latest novel, Night Angels, features an introverted biracial American woman from Boston and a compassionate diplomat who saved thousands of Jews by issuing them visas to Shanghai. The novel is based on Dr. Ho Fengshan, hailed as the Chinese Schindler. I could give so many more examples, but I would just end up quoting every thought of Kylar and every time he talks to someone. If the singularity formed by assholes just wasn't enough, the other characters really aren't really the beacon of enjoyment either. Mind you, we are also in Kylar's head and hear all his horny thoughts about Vi and about all other women in this book, just like we have heard all of his (and some of Logan's) horny thoughts in the last three books. Aside from Durzo, there is a trio of incredibly interesting noblemen who steal the show from time to time. The first, Duke Regnus Gyre, is the good noble archetype. The one who refuses to seize the throne because it would be dishonourable, and walks knowingly into exile instead. Gyre is a great character to read about, but it is the other two who really caught my attention.

One of the reasons it's taken me this long to get to this book is because I think the cover is awful. I know cover art doesn't really effect anything and probably shouldn't anyway, but it was very off-putting for me. Does anyone really want to see Hayden Christensen dressed up for Halloween on a cover? Maybe I shouldn't ask that... :) (It does look like HC doesn't it?)

Night Angels

Night Angel is the first Celebrity Big Brother contestant to compete on The Masked Singer. She was followed by Orca. Kylar was a pretty dumb teenager in The Way of Shadows. But he was a teenager, you'd expect him to be dumb. And we saw Kylar's education under the best assassinwetboy to ever exist, we saw Kylar growing up, and after all of that, you'd expect him to be a bit smarter, right? Right? WRONG The novel „Night Angel Nemesis“ by Brent Weeks is set not long after the events of the original „Night Angel Trilogy“. We follow the two points of view of Kylar Stern and Viridiana Sovari. Most of the surviving cast of the series plays a role in this continuation and it really made me feel nostalgic to see them again.
