About this deal

The S7 MaxV is pleasingly quiet when used on its lowest level of suction. Our decibel meter measured 55db when cleaning hard floors, rising to 63db on Max+, with a slightly increased figure of 68db on carpet. This is equivalent to the level of noise of a shower running. You get a glimpse into the inner workings of the robot vacuum if you open the lid (which is surrounded by a silver frame). Then the robot vacuum slightly nudges the object, recognises that there is an obstacle and looks for a way around it. This way, the robot vacuum can mop the delicate laminate flooring in the living room with less water and the tiles in the kitchen with a lot of water.

This new model presents revolutionary changes, especially in the scrubbing section, improving this function in such a way that the brand assures that it is very close to manual scrubbing. A cover on top of the robot hides its dustbin, a system reset button, and a Wi-Fi indicator light. The dustbin features a small, washable air filter inside. The S7 maps rooms in a methodical and logical manner that makes a lot more sense than the way some of its competitors do it. To date, my test model hasn’t performed any bizarre manoeuvres that have had me scratching my head in bemusement. You can choose how the vacuum-mop robot should handle the carpets in the mobile app. The following options are available:

The app also supports multi-level maps, allowing the robot to automatically recognize up to four floors. As it's working and after completing a cleaning task, the robot shows its exact path on the map, so you can see where it is and what it has already cleaned. In the app, you can also set up a cleaning schedule and view a history of the robot's cleaning runs. If you have an open floor plan, you might want to divide the space into different rooms. It can also be helpful to merge hallways with other rooms. In testing, I had no problem dividing my open-concept kitchen, dining, and living space into three separate rooms and merging my hallway and hallway bathroom into one room. It took me a couple of tries to name the individual rooms, but I was eventually successful.

Before sending the robot out to clean, you can configure the vacuum power and mopping scrub level for the entire space, or by room. When using the room or zone cleaning options, you can set it to make up to three passes. Setting Up the S7 and Auto-Empty Dock

It maintains LiDAR navigation and does not present major changes in terms of design, autonomy and power, maintaining approximately 3 hours of use, with a suction power of 2500 Pa.

We recommend the Xiaomi Home App if you have several smart home devices from Xiaomi in use. This way, you can control all devices via one app. The robot vacuum can clean even more stubborn stains better (where it must apply a lot more pressure to the mop). The VibraRise Technology Once it creates a map of your floor plan, you can merge, divide, and name the various spaces for area and customized cleaning. You can also create virtual walls and no-go zones to cordon off certain areas, as well as no-mop zones. After the robot maps your floor plan, you can merge, divide, and name the various spaces for area and customized cleaning The auto-empty base arrives in two parts and you need to tighten five screws to attach them. Fortunately, a screwdriver is neatly stored on the bottom of the unit, while the screws that require tightening are already inserted and marked with a screwdriver icon. This setup requires a bit more work than the Deebot N8 Pro+ auto-empty base, which comes fully assembled, but anyone should be able to do it.The S7 is also equipped with four cliff sensors so when it approaches a flight of stairs it will literally avoid tumbling down them. Cliff sensors are fitted to practically every robovac on the market – even the cheapest – so this technology isn’t especially groundbreaking. The robot vacuum scans the room with a unique laser distance sensor (LDS). With this, the little housekeeper always knows where it’s at and where it has to go next. At 35cm in diameter, the S7 is 4cm wider than iRobot’s flagship Roomba S9 and 2cm wider than the budget-priced iRobot i3. However, its single ribbed rubber roller is just 16cm in width – about the same as the i3 but a lot shorter than the S9’s substantial 23cm. This means that it will miss about 9cm of dirt on either side and only vacuum a smaller area of floor at any given time. The long, single side-mounted spinning nylon brush certainly helps direct wayward pieces of fluff towards the roller but, as is the norm with most robot vacs, it will not effectively vacuum the edges of a room or indeed any corners and crevices that are too big for its body. FYI: Since the robot vacuum turns off the suction motor in "Deep Cleaning mode", it hardly decreases the battery runtime. Thus, it can also mop larger areas at once. The Fluffy Washable Mop The robot's differentiating feature is its ability to vacuum and mop simultaneously, without wetting carpet. While other hybrid models, such as the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI, can detect and automatically avoid carpet when mopping, the S7 goes a step further. When the robot senses carpet, it lifts its mopping plate by 0.2 inch and keeps on vacuuming. That way, it can mop your hard floors and vacuum your low- to medium-pile carpets in a single pass. It's the only robot vacuum we've tested with this feature. The S7 features a raised mapping sensor on top

The inclusion of the Lidar sensor and the camera resulted in the robot vacuum taking a methodical route around our home, both when vacuuming and mopping. It also helped to keep the vacuum conscious of furniture and obstacles, so it didn’t bump into anything –unlike robot vacuums that only employ gyroscopes, such as the Eufy G20 for example. The S7 is simple to set up, but if you use the auto-empty base, it requires additional assembly. Unboxing the S7 and auto-empty base Only robot vacuums without a laser navigation tower have a flatter design. However, these models have many other disadvantages, which is why they are relatively rare. That’s why they can’t put enough pressure on the mop pad. Thus, the robot vacuums have a hard time removing stains that have dried for days. The mop is reusable. You should wash it in the washing machine at 40 degrees after each mopping trip. Moreover, its mop-lifting feature worked perfectly on both low- and medium-pile carpets. As soon as the S7 sensed carpet while mopping, it lifted the cloth mount and kept vacuuming. When this happened, I walked behind the robot to verify that it wasn't wetting the carpet. The auto-empty base successfully transfers debris out of the dustbin so you don't need to touch it Now I have a lot of hard floors in my home, but I also have a lot of rugs. And rugs are the nemeses of most robomops. Indeed, I’ve waited ages for a mop-specific robot or hybrid robovac to come along that can safely avoid soaking my rugs and, lo and behold, the S7 is that machine. Using ultrasonic sound, the S7 recognises when it’s on a rug or a carpet and lifts the whole mop assembly by 5mm the moment it realises it’s on carpet. So far it’s worked on even the thinnest and flimsiest of rugs – and without ruffling them up too much in the process. The vibrations of the mopping plate simulate " scrubbing movements". With this, the robot vacuum can even remove the most stubborn stains.
