About this deal

With True Blood and The Walking Dead arguably leading the way, horror had a big moment on the small screen in the 2010s (so big, in fact that we’re still in it today). A significant part of it was film franchises getting adapted for serial storytelling. NBC’s Hannibal is the crown jewel of the decade, and Scream followed Teen Wolf on to MTV, but other titles include A&E’s underrated Bates Motel, El Ray’s From Dusk Till Dawn, and Starz’s excellent Ash vs Evil Dead. Executive producer Bob Weinstein is excited about the new mask, because it has a reason for being, instead of being a mass-produced Halloween mask that caught Craven's eye, like the original one was. "The [new] mask itself plays a story element, and that is different from Scream the movie," Weinstein said, "It ties in specifically to the story. The mask has an importance; it's not a mask for mask's sake." [4]

The 10-episode first season is easily the worst of Scream: The TV Series, as we meet the aforementioned core ensemble through a dull narrative with a comically obvious mystery. Season 2 is an improvement, but you still feel chained to the painfully stupid protagonists, and it ends up executing some extremely noticeable contradictions to what plays out in the preceding episodes (it’s clear that Bex Taylor-Klaus' Audrey Jensen is meant to be revealed as the second killer, but Michael Gans and Richard Register evidently decided to ignore all of the evidence when they replaced they original showrunners). In October 2016, MTV renewed the series for a third and final season. [5] [6] [7] In April 2017, MTV announced that they were rebooting the series with the third season, with a new cast and setting. As part of the reboot process, it was revealed that Brett Matthews would be serving as the main showrunner. In addition, Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere and Yaneley Arty would be added as executive producers for the series under Flavor Unit Entertainment. [8] [9] RJ Cyler, C.J. Wallace, Tyga, Keke Palmer, Jessica Sula, Giorgia Whigham, Giullian Yao Gioiello and Tyler Posey starred in the rebooted third season. In June 2019, it was announced that the series would be moving to VH1 ahead of the premiere of the third season. [10] The third and final season, subtitled Resurrection, premiered on July 8, 2019. [11] Premise [ edit ] On November 13th, 2017, it was confirmed that William Scharpf would be playing as Ghostface in the third season of Scream. This information was corroborated by an online article, detailing the attendance of several cast members to a wrap-up party. The party that was held was to commemorate the end of filming production for the third season. [21] Kit, Borys (June 3, 2022). "Dermot Mulroney Joins Latest 'Scream' Horror Movie (Exclusive)".
