About this deal

If another player beat their card score, the caller scores only their color bonus and all other players score their own card score. Alternatively, they can declare “last chance” which gives each other player one more turn, after which scores are counted up and compared. You’ll play over a number of rounds that can end once any player hits seven points, but exactly when that round ends is entirely up to you as players. Let’s talk about art, folks. Few games have had art that absolutely dazzled me like Sea Salt & Paper. I’m talking, like, EVER. It’s one of the most beautiful and charming games I own, and that all comes down to the incredible photographed origami that graces each card. Someone please give Lucien Derainne & Pierre-Yves Gallard all the game art awards, and they can just keep them in perpetuity for these unreal origami creations and magnificent photographic staging.

Duo cards can be revealed to your opponents to use their powers, ranging from stealing cards to drawing extra cards. Calling “last chance” triggers Sea Salt & Paper’s masterstroke, a risk-reward bet that you have more points than anyone else around the table. All the other players get one extra to try and best your score, with your hand of cards revealed. Pull it off, and you score bonus points for each card in your biggest set of matching colours. If someone out-scores you, though, you sacrifice the normal value of your cards and only score the relatively paltry colour bonus - while everyone else gets to score as usual. (Side note: Sea Salt & Paper includes ColorADD’s colour alphabet, using symbols on each card to denote their colour for colourblind players.) For this we are going to beat the whole game with one apostle, the legendary El Huervo. He can be very powerful in later parts of a level. Here are a few tips to have while doing this. If you have a "duo" of cards in your hand that can be played in a pair, you may play them to the table to trigger their effect:Some cards add additional ways to score - and in the case of the mermaids, you instantly win if you play all four. Sea Salt & Paper‘s scoring is really interesting. You score based on sets of cards, as long as you have at least a pair. Some cards score more points for more cards. Others only score for a pair. You also score based on card colour. There is even the possibility of getting points for every single card of a certain type. It sounds very confusing, but becomes clear after a round or two. I played a couple of games on Board Game Arena the day before my physical copy arrived, and I’ve played it multiple times a day in both formats since then. It’s overtaken Love Letter as our favourite small-box (or bag) card game – although we don’t say that in front of Love Letter while it looks at us from the shelf “in case it gets too sad”. My daughter woke up at 7:30am during half term to play this – that’s how good it is. And she beat me as well.

Tip 2: There a few tubes with fishman inside, breaking it can free the minion. There is one tube with a swordsmen inside. It is advised to deal with this before his second phaseFloats in the air and fires three large spheres towards your minions, killing them instantly upon touch. The archbishop pulls out his staff, and fires a huge death ray and spins around once, instantly killing any minions that gets caught in the ray. Tip 1: When passing an area that is in the ballistas range, it would be unwise to remain in the path which will result in precious minion death. You can tell where the path is as it is marked with a shallow dug up trail leading to the other side of the area. If Budakh is killed first, Rumata becomes enraged. They will move faster, swing their sword more often and will form a fiery ring around them after their cool down.

When one player has amassed seven or more points, they can choose to end the round. They don’t have to, mind - they can keep going as long as they like. Choosing to end the round comes with the potential of a major points windfall, if you’re willing to get risky.Calling an end to the round goes one of two ways. The player says “stop” and everybody counts the points on their cards. Everybody benefits, so there’s not a major incentive to do so - other than to stop another player going for a “last chance” call. LAST CHANCE" = every other player gets one more turn. This is a bet that you have the most points. The bet is scored as follows. Despite those two minor gripes, I think this game is a winner. It won over my non-gamer wife, and it won over several heavy gamers I play with too. It’s something you can teach in 5 minutes and it’s a joy to look at. So, to my two French friends from Gen Con 2022, I say “merci, et bon voyage!” If the player who declared last chance has the most points, they not only score their card points, but they also get a colour bonus, scoring one additional point for each of their most copious colour. There are two arenas with bosses in the final wave. In the harbour Wharfmaster Glenn makes an appearance that must be defeated. In the graveyard, a special version of the witch must be slain. For tips on how to fight them, refer to the ‘defeating bosses’ section in this guide

Once a player reaches 7 points in their hand, they may announce either a Stop or a Last Chance. If they say Stop, all players score the points on their cards. If they say Last Chance, they're betting that after one last round they will have the most points. If their bet is won they get bonus points! The game is played in rounds until one player reaches the required number of points for victory.

When you first play Sea Salt & Paper, you probably play these pairs straight away. It seems to make sense. Yet, the more you play the game, the more you realize that hanging onto a pair can be more beneficial. Timing when you get the extra action can give you a crucial edge over the other players. Get it right and you can sometimes get a card that gives you another pair which gives you another extra action. It is possible to chain several extra actions together and have a super turn. Mais attention, Sea salt and Paper est de ces jeux pour lequel on ne doit pas rester sur une première partie que l’on trouvera le plus souvent trop hasardeuse (l’effet 7 wonders !). Upon reaching half health, Rumata will jump down with a fiery ring forming around them that spreads. If you now have seven or more points' worth of cards (both in your hand and in front of you), you may choose to call either:
