About this deal

The Shark NZ801UKT is an upright vacuum that’s designed to handle everything from small dust particles to pet hair. It’s a corded model, so it provides consistent suction without worrying about battery life, while the lift-away design provides more mobility when cleaning awkward locations. With a weight of 6.5kg, the Shark isn’t the lightest vacuum we’ve reviewed, but it’s not too heavy either. It handles well and is easy to manoeuvre around furniture, although we don’t think it can match Dyson Ball technology when it comes to steering. LiftAwayoffers a removable central canister that can be lifted around to clean stairs and upholstery. This makes is easier to access tough spots, even cars.

A minor downside is the bulky dust canister on the front of the machine. When you’re not in lift-away mode, this can make it difficult to clean under furniture. Hard Floors For non-allergy sufferers, however, the NZ801UKT does a good enough job at retaining dust and other particles. Shark NZ801UKT Emptying & Cleaning Keep your carpets and hard floors spotless with the NZ690UK from Shark. This upright cleaner comes with Anti-Hair Wrap technology and Powered Lift-Away as well as a 1.1L dust capacity to help you vacuum through your home with ease. Multi-Purpose Vacuum Cleaner This level of power is an indicator that this vacuum cleaner is good enough for most standard jobs; if you’ve got bigger bulk to remove, such as dirt from DIY, then a more powerful bagged cleaner, such as a Henry would make more sense. Power alone is an indicator of performance, but the real test comes down to the quality of the components and how well the brush bar can agitate and remove dirt. For that reason, I used my real-world tests. One of the attachments which comes with this Shark vacuum is the pet tool. As with many of the best vacuum cleaners for pet hair, it's was excellent at drawing out embedded hair from rugs, blankets and anywhere else your four-legged-friend likes to reside. Overall, this is a strong contender for those looking for a large capacity Shark vacuum that they can rely on. Shark claims that it has all the power of a corded vacuum cleaner but in cordless form, and after testing we couldn't agree more. It's got DuoClean which makes switching modes immensely straightforward, and the controls make it easy to see how much battery you have left. To charge, simply lift out the battery on the side of the dust tank and pop it into its charging port. The floorhead also provides decent edge performance, although you’ll still need to use a crevice tool for cleaning right up to walls. A bonus is that the 2-in-1 tool and upholstery brush have on-board storage, which ensures they’re always available and less likely to get lost. The Shark doesn’t come with a huge array of tools, but it has everything you would expect from an upright vacuum cleaner. We think the tools are also well-made and easy to attach/detach, which isn’t always the case for upright vacs. Shark NZ801UKT DuoClean Floorhead

The second was the wealth of new technologies that Shark boasted about with this vacuum when we got a first glimpse of it at IFA 2023. This vacuum has four detection technologies so that cleaning your home is more thorough than ever. When we were testing, we found dealing with high-traffic areas much easier thanks the the amped up suction and the FloorDetect technology makes transitioning into different rooms across your home much easier too. The result is a far cheaper model than is usually available, with most of the features that I’ve come to love about Shark upright cleaners, including Lift-Away mode. There are a few compromises and the build and ergonomics aren’t quite as good here as on the latest models, but this is a great value option. Design and features The Shark Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner with PowerFins, Powered Lift-Away & TruePet has absolutely everything you need (as you might've guessed from the name) to stay on top of the busiest of homes, in a cordless model. The relatively new innovation to Shark's portfolio is Flexology which allows the wand to go from straight to angled, is a feature which we highly rate. It means that you can get your vac under the beds and various items of furniture that are raised up on legs. What we found, however, is that the floorhead wasn’t as easy to direct accurately as is the case when it’s used with the rigid wand. The Shark NZ801UKT comes with an upholstery brush, 2-in-1 crevice tool, and a pet tool. While it doesn’t include advanced tools, such as an “up top” tool or dedicated hard floor tool, it still provides everything you need for most cleaning tasks.

Although it is a corded vac, the 9 metre-long cable will give you an adequate radius to work your way around the various floors in the home. Molly lives in a two-bedroom flat, and never found the cord to be an issue, with space to get to all of the rooms she needed to. When using it to clean her car, Helen was very impressed with the overall performance, with the vac effectively removing dirt from her car. It did struggle a little more to collect hairs from the carpet, but overall the suction was strong. DuoCleanis Shark's self-adjusting brush roll that automatically adapts to carpet and hard floor without you having to switch over. Pet hair is another area where the NZ801UKT excels. Many vacuums struggle with fur, but the DuoClean floorhead is brilliant at removing hair from carpets, while the turbo pet tool is just as effective at cleaning stairs or sofas. The difference between the two powered modes is in how fast the brush bar on the floor head is spun, but suction remains the same for all modes. If you need to reduce suction to push the vacuum cleaner, then there’s a vent on the handle.

Fortunately, it’s still easy to cut any remaining hair in the traditional way, and we don’t think there’s any doubt that the anti tangle feature reduces the quantity of hair caught in the brush bar. Shark NZ801UKT Price & Competitor Comparison When looking at buying a vacuum cleaner one of the most important aspects to figure out is the type of floor the machine is designed for. Being clear on this will ensure that you end up with a vacuum cleaner that is well suited to your own needs. The Shark NZ801UKT True Pet has become one of the UK’s most popular upright vacuum cleaners. It includes a range of features, such as Shark’s Anti-Hair Wrap technology, powered lift-away design, and pet hair tool. It’s also designed to be a versatile vacuum that’s as effective at cleaning carpets, hard floors, and pet hair.Anti Hair Wrapoffers a self-cleaning brush roll thanks to an in-built comb. This removes pet and human hair before it gets the chance to get tangled.
