About this deal

The Tamron takes the prize from me for the best for portability. I was really surprised by how light this lens was compared to the other three, as well as the size of the lens, considering it is a 28-75mm with a fixed F2.8. So, if you are wanting to keep your kit light and easy to travel with, I recommend the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Di III VXD G2 over the others for this very reason. Best AF Functionality: Sony FE 24-70mm f2.8 GM The Sigma is at its shortest around 60mm and longest at 24mm focused closely as it extends a small amount with focusing. As you might expect given its bright F2.8 maximum aperture, the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 is a fairly large lens, although some of its rivals are even larger. Its barrel length is 122.9mm (4.8") for the L-mount version or 125mm (4.9") for the E-mount version, and both variants share the same diameter of 88mm (3.5").

If the prices were the same, I don't think anyone would choose the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Lens over the The included small, plastic, inside-ribbed lens hood extends and retracts with the lens (like most lenses with this focal length range).I'm sorry, I didn't intend to criticize the photo, but what I said may have come off that way. I am grateful that you provided this photo, which is helpful to me. You took the time and effort to help and I appreciate it. Not many others have offered an opinion on this thread, much less a photo.

It really is that good. I might even use the word “flawless” once or twice in this review, I’m not sure yet. It has literally everything going for it, from being smaller and lighter than its DSLR predecessor to being flawlessly sharp. (One!) It is also built like a tank, and just about the only thing missing is optical stabilization, a feature that only Canon’s full-frame mirrorless 24-70mm f/2.8 has, (in conjunction with their sensor-based stabilization, too!) …while on Sony’s GM flagship 24-70, you are restricted to IBIS. Sigma Announces New 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN Art Zoom Lens for Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras; Available in Sony E-mount and L-mount

I’m not one to worry too much about vignetting, as it’s an effect that I like (perhaps too much), and when it’s undesirable, it’s easily eliminated in post. As a result, I’ve not felt it while shooting with the Sigma, but some might, and if you’re someone who squints at corners while wringing your hands over light loss, you may wish to invest in the Sony. Cameras Mirrorless Cameras DSLR Cameras Digital Compact Cameras Video Cameras Lenses Mirrorless Camera Lenses DSLR Lenses Lens Filters Lens Accessories I am looking to buy a versatile zoom lens for landscape photography on a Sony A7Riv that will give me more room on the wide end and yield better sharpness and less longitudinal chromatic aberration than my Tamron 28-200mm (which, don't get me wrong, is fantastic for its price and versatility). I'm trying to decide between the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 and Sony 24-105mm f4. Will these both give me better results than the Tamron? This second newly-designed Art zoom lens from Sigma is a large-aperture standard zoom for full-frame mirrorless camera systems and is available in Sony E-mount and L-mount. The Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 offers best-in-class performance due to a sophisticated optical design that delivers high resolution throughout the entire zoom range. This new Art zoom lens from Sigma follows the debut of the lauded 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art zoom for mirrorless cameras. I'd say the rating is a bit low, because it came out into 2019. By that time, there was only the cheap Tamron 28-75/2.8 RXD G1 avialable, and of course the GM 24-70/2.8 Original, hence Mark I - and the Sigma is/was very close to this, the original Sony GM was 2399 EUR when being released into 2016 - crazy !The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Lens' AF is very loud but reasonably fast (although the noise makes it sound slower). Minor complaints aside, however, the lens handles really well. It is a beautifully made, pro-grade lens that feels very quality in the hands. There is very little “extra” about the GM lens compared to the 24-70DN. Sigma 24-70DN Autofocus Peformance
