Use it to get the speed and feel of a classic keyboard and to go from tablet to laptop. Pressing the fingerprint reader at the Windows sign-in screen has no response and appears not to be recognized. Type Covers are available for different languages and alphabets. To see what Type Covers are available in your preferred language or alphabet, visit Microsoft Store for that region or language. Note: If you don't see a Devices menu, then your device does not provide this functionality and is working as expected. Not all devices have this option on the UEFI screen.

Note: Closing the Type Cover turns off your Surface screen only if your Type Cover and Surface are the same size. If your Type Cover and Surface are different sizes, press the power button on your Surface when you close it to save power. If you're going to use your Type Cover on a different Surface, the input language settings for that Surface will apply. The language settings are associated with the Surface device itself, not the Type Cover. Have an issue with your Type Cover?

Make sure the language you're using on your Keyboard (the Keyboard’s layout language) matches the one you're using on your PC (the display language). For best typing results, the Keyboard and display language should match. To type text while the Type Cover is folded, tap the screen anywhere you can type and the touch keyboard appears. Pressing the fingerprint reader at the Windows sign-in screen results in an error or other message such as "Fingerprint not recognized." For Windows 11: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard (scroll down to the Interaction section). To adjust the settings, toggle the settings to either on or off, depending on your preferences. To try to resolve these issues, you can begin by following the steps below to force a restart, detach and reattach the Type Cover or Keyboard, get the latest updates, or confirm connectivity.
