About this deal

They were both a little to big IMO, as I am currently bagging Mizuno MP-68s. The M2 isa definite “game improvement iron”, while the M1 was similar in size and shape to my previous irons, Titleist AP1s. The TW737-Vn is made particularly for better golfers who like the shape and workability of a blade, but want a little more forgiveness.

I feel better if I break this up into different sets, starting with the 4 and 5 irons. They are rather big in appearance with lots of offset and a huge topline. Even by GI standards probably not the best looking heads, but I do realize a 2 piece metalwood construction can only look so good. I wish the 5 would have been the same design as the 6i and up.I've never known a golf ball manufacturer to release a golf ball with the same name but in two different structures. This is very misleading and people could end up with people buying a ball they weren't expecting (i.e. 2-pc vs 3-pc, 60 compression vs 70 compression). This is the same story for the **Taylormade RBZ Speed** golf balls too. When looking at irons specifically, the breakthrough came when they launched the P-Series. The original line up included the P750, P770, and P790 and was a premium range aimed at the better player - a market TaylorMade irons had never really appealed. For TaylorMade, it was driver, driver, driver - but that's all changed now. I’ve even had some success hitting the long irons, especially off the tee. I was surprised at the distance I was getting, especially with the 4-iron, however, it does have 20 degrees of loft. Does that mean I’ll ditch my 7 wood? Not just yet, because for the most part I hit it really well. However, I’ll keep working with the 4 iron and see where it takes me. Either my golf swing is getting better, or it’s all about the technology, or a little bit of both. The progressively shaped design combined with the smaller, compact smaller irons feature TaylorMade’s Multi-Functional Sole and the Sand Wedge featured the new ATV sole. The heavy tungsten weight on the sole of the club has been specifically placed to make it easier to launch the ball into the air.

You might be wondering, “Why test against a cast club and not compare Honma to Honma or Honma to Miura?” One reason is that like many of you, I’m precisely who Honma is looking to attract — a US-based consumer who has been playing mostly domestic clubs. Around the green: Not bad, but nothing to write home about. We were able to produce sharp spin from firm bunkers; otherwise, the RBZ is more suited to a chip-and-run technique where spin isn’t paramount. Putts rolled nicely, with no discernible “jump” off the face. So the other big thing- distance. I was hitting burner 2 my 7-iron 150-- the Bladez--165-170 (have hit it close to 190 on occasion when i catch it right). although may be do to the stronger lies on RB's-- but I cant do that with mu Burner 2 6 iron-- so somethig else may be contributing. Each head uses a large and thin face that’s strong and stiff at the edges. This gives you more distance from the sweet spot thanks to launching the ball like a trampoline.
