A lot of Filler stuff with all the game recommendations (11 mile game etc), could’ve, no i should’ve skipped those tbh. The end was so bad, and no it’s not simple like it’s just an ending that isn’t to my liking, it’s seriously bad. It was so rushed. When a group who have met on a creepy Deddit thread decide to meet in real life, they only have one plan in mind: they are going to summon the Midnight Man. One of my goals this year is to read as many 2023/ARCs as I can so I started with Cynthia Murphy’s latest release The Midnight Game and it was the best choice I made. I read Last One to Die a few years ago which I loved. Cynthia has a way of writing that you can’t put down and this was the same.

The concept of the book intrigued me from the start, especially the whole paranormal aspect. The creepy voices? Signing your soul over to the game? I’m not entirely sure if I can call if fun, exactly, but it was just one of those books that are fast to read and enjoyable. I got everything just before it was revealed, but it was still so much fun of a read for me, so well crafted I have read 2 other books by the same author and while I enjoyed the ride for both of them, it was nothing like this one.

Every book I read of her has a unique, original, plot line that will honestly have you gripping the book for dear life to see what happens next. But I think, no I KNOW that The Midnight Games is my favourite yet! If you love Kat Ellis, Karen McManus – then you will love Cynthia’s books. I was actually scared of these games the people were all suggesting and just thinking of them gave me chills and scared me shitless. Like, I know people who would play games like this for the fun, the thrills and the adrenaline rush, but this just made me even more wary of these types of things in probably the best way possible. I’ve just completed edits for my US version of Win Lose Kill Die, which is out on December 5th. I’ve also been offered some exciting new opportunities that I can’t discuss yet!”

Eerst geloven ze er niet zo in, maar dan gebeuren er toch wel heel wat onverklaarbare dingen.. zullen ze de nacht overleven? Als iemand die vroeger wel eens hier en daar een creepy pasta las online, vond ik dit boek echt ontzettend tof! I would recommend this book for older teens. There are sections explaining the rules of other Creepypasta games and descriptions of murder and violence which may be upsetting to younger or more susceptible readers. However, older teens will love it and I can see it being extremely popular in school libraries. This is Cynthia Murphy's third horror novel for teens, and I feel that she is becoming an important voice in this genre. I await her next offering with interest. The ending. Shouldn't have been investigated more by the police shouldn't we have seen the outcome? And going on the eleven mile game what are you bonkers?I don’t really feel like I can talk about my thoughts for the characters without spoiling major plotlines...so I’ll just leave it right now.
