About this deal

Another Sue Watson psychological thriller is out in the world! And has featured as our Book Club choice for September 2022. I was a bit surprised by one of the guest, not quite buying why she was there considering her condition, but it didn’t irritate me too much. The relationships of either of the couples were very trope-y and shallow and not well fleshed out. Neither was any of the characters and none were likeable or relatable. They just all seemed completely off. The Resort, Sue Watson's upcoming psychological thriller has mind blowing twists that you will not be able to resist. Sue is not afraid to take on darker elements of high tension and drama which has led to her massive popularity. Her books have sold over a million copies to date. A beautiful, secluded island resort sounds like a dream but for the three couples in this book - it becomes a nightmare!

Oh. My. Gosh. This, this book right here, is the thriller I've been looking for… Ho. Lee. Cow. Folks. I feel like calling it a “plot twist” is an understatement… Clear your schedule because you will not be wanting to set this down.’ Lily Michaels ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You’ve been excited about this getaway for months – at last, a chance to reconnect with your husband at a secluded island resort. But when he unexpectedly calls you from the beach, you hear the urgency in his voice. Something is very wrong. It was built in the 1920s and although has been remodeled several, it takes pride in maintaining the vibe and look of era it was created. The Resort is a mystery thriller novel by USA Today bestselling author Sue Watson. Having read and enjoyed many of her books, I was anxious to start her new novel, The Resort. Can I give this 10 stars? That's what it deserves!… This is why I read! For books like this!… LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this one!’ Goodreads reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sign up to be the first to hear about new releases from Sue Watson here: https://www.bookouture.com/sue-watson/ Where Can I Buy?

One couple is there to deal with life after loss. Another couple is there on their honeymoon. Another couple's actions cause concern for the others involved. What is everyone's story? More importantly, since there are only six resort guests and some staff, at least one of them is a murderer, thus a long shadow of doubt is cast on just about everyone. The resort is accessible only by boat and the police insist that everyone stays put until all are questioned, especially since motive could easily be assigned to any of them. However, there’s a bit of going round and round the garden at Fitzgeralds with some repetition which spoils things a bit for me. The ending feels a bit low-key and I suppose the expectations are for something more dramatic but maybe on reflection this is more realistic and works better.I may not have identified with any of the characters this time, but I was absorbed in a compelling read and in awe of the author’s talent. I can’t wait to see what she writes about next! there are trigger warnings for this book, these include infertility, miscarriage, rape and suicide* Luna best explains the show's real meaning when she observes that " They lost time [...] It's pretty on the surface, but if you squint, it's f***ed up." The Resort is a story all about the destructive pull of nostalgia. Violet is so desperate to see her mother again and relive the time in which she was alive that she abandons her father for 15 years. Sam and Violet's love story appeals to Emma because it's sort of like time travel. Through them, she can relive that time when " everything is so meaningful and the highs are, like, so f***ing high" before " the lows keep getting lower."

Sue Watson is an incredibly gifted writer. As she penned this domestic thriller, it was easy to find fault with each of the guests, but quite difficult to imagine who the likely killer was. In fact, Ms. Watson created a bevy of unlikable characters, thus increasing the difficulty of sorting out the killer's identity. By so doing, this book proved intriguing from beginning to end. Considering the twists in this book, as well as misdirection, this was definitely a book designed to keep even the most keen of readers on their toes. Those are just two examples of the myriad issues that plague this book. Although classified as a “mystery”, the only true mystery is how The Resort made it to publication. This editor needs to be in the unemployment line whilst seeking training for a new career.

Daisy and Tom are trying to enjoy a luxury break, and celebrate the end of something. It had been a difficult year for them, after the tragic loss of their child and after three unsuccessful rounds of IVF, they have stopped treatment and have had to accept reality. Daisy had worked as an art director for a fashion magazine, and had put her career first and waited later to have a child. Now at thirty-eight, Daisy must accept a future without a child. She was now lost and afraid her younger husband would look elsewhere for his opportunity to having a family. Sam & David Richards we’re celebrating their honey moon in Fitzgeralds in the hotel they were staying at with views surrounding them & a upmarket restaurant they thought they would have the time of their lives, but when the body of a waitress who works in the bar at Fitzgeralds was found at the bottom of a cliff everyone was a suspect. The Resort is available on June 24th. After having read many thrillers in my life, I thought I had this plot figured out, but I was very wrong. Sue Watson, you totally fooled me! (5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

So Sam tells Daisy she looks pale, and Daisy interprets that to mean Sam sees her as a picture of sophistication? I….but….::sigh:: In this hot, claustrophobic setting, friends are questioning friends, wives are looking differently at husbands, no one trusts anyone.”
