About this deal

When you boot-up the Timex app you get to choose whether the little extra dial displays how close you are to either reaching your distance or steps goal for the day. The seconds hand can take on the same task if you don’t need the time to the second, and it can display the date too. Here at Timex, we take pride in offering a wide range of men's watches designed to suit every need and preference. From your all-around leather strap watches to adventure-ready military-inspired watches, we have every type of timepiece that’s guaranteed to be built with quality, style, and durability. Choosing the Right Watch A Man Should Wear Watches have become one of the most important accessories for men. Whether dressing up for a casual outing or a formal event, a watch is essential to complete the look for men. Innumerable watch styles are available to match the perpetually changing men’s vogue. You can select from the vast array of options of Timex latest watches for men that are crafted, assembled, and built from the finest materials. Each timepiece is designed with keen attention to details that manifest class and elegance. How to choose the right men’s wristwatch? Simply, if a watch matches our criteria for value, performs well in our tests and feels good in use, it’ll make it onto our list – and if it doesn’t, it won’t.

Through generations of watchmaking, Timex made its name synonymous with iconic watch design that could withstand anything. And we constantly keep innovating - from our rugged outdoor watches to early sports watches, collaborations and reissues, digital and smartwatches, each Timex collection is a unique expression of the company’s watchmaking mission. Our online casual watches for men are not only inspired by the 70s and 80s but also cater to latest trends and styles. Strap Material is important With the Move, however, it demands the awkward task of hitting the sync button in the app and also holding the crown on the watch down for five seconds, until it bleeps at you and the hands turn to 12. This is the only way to get the two talking; leave the app hanging for too long and you'll have to hit the button again, and vice versa with the watch. It also requires a bit of hand gymnastics if you're trying to do it with the phone in your hand. If you’re looking for a reliable daily driver, our best advice would be to get yourself a dependable leather-strapped watch or a stainless-steel bracelet watch that can easily match your outfit. Timex’s selection of men’s watches like the Marlin, Easy Reader, and Waterbury Traditional provide flexibility in options by being available in either a leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet. Choose to wear a leather strap watch when you feel like dressing up or down with your everyday wear. But if you’re looking for a more rugged and modern vibe that’s durable and scratch resistant- you can’t go wrong with wearing a watch with a stainless-steel bracelet. And that's kind of it in terms of the main features. As I said, there's no notification support at all - not even a bleep or a buzz. There are a couple of other small things you can do: you can set a single alarm via the app, and even a timer, although the latter feels more faff than it's worth considering you need to sync the watch to start it - and that's quite the palaver. Timex IQ+: Syncing and app

As for the app itself, it's a pretty basic affair. Your homescreen shows you the progress you've made that day towards you step, distance, calorie and sleep goals. Tapping on one will bring up a bar chart that can be presented by hour, day, week, month or year, giving you an view of your progress over time.

Timex has the looks. The Move is a nicely designed hybrid, and like many of its peers it gives away very little in terms of its smarts. There's a 37mm (with 18mm swappable bands) and a 41mm version (20mm bands) available but both do exactly the same, and both are water resistant to 50 meters. Health-conscious women will be impressed by the Galaxy Watch 4’s “BioActive” sensor, which has the ability to measure your BMI, skeletal muscle mass and basal metabolic rate. I tested the Timex Metropolitan for over a month, wearing it on one wrist and my Fitbit Ionic on the other. I switched wrists halfway through to make sure the side wasn’t affecting anything. (Yes, I wore two watches 24/7, and yes, I got some funny looks.) Timex makes the IQ+ Move with either a leather or silicone strap. Ours is the leather one, and as you can see it has a sort of corrugated finish across about half of its length. This is a watch I’d happily wear every day. And I haven’t regularly worn a normal watch in more than 10 years. If you must have a bit of colour, Timex makes Move watches with green and blue hands, and there’s a busier, bulkier Metro model too.

The Timex IQ+ Move’s casing is stainless steel, with lightly curved mineral glass on top. It’s a smart look, and the watch is water resistant to 50 metres, matching the second-gen Apple Watch. Key specs – Operating system: watchOS; Screen size and type: 1.9in 484 x 396 Retina LTPO OLED; Battery life: Up to 18 hours; Replaceable strap: Yes; GPS: Yes; Heart rate: Yes; NFC: Yes That's about as granular as any of the metrics other than sleep go. As I mentioned previously, you can see a breakdown of your sleep through the night - made of deep sleep, light sleep, and bits you were awake - and you can edit the start and end times if it gets it wrong. But sadly you can't do anything with any of the captured data beyond peruse it in the app. Syncing with Apple Health and Google Fit would be nice. Time IQ+: Where it sits

Really, it shouldn't be this difficult, and I hope Timex finds a more elegant solution through a future update. As for more objective data for its GPS? There’s a spot on my regular running route that’s a Google Map–certified 0.50 miles from my front door. My watch tended to hit that half-mile mark around that area, though it could be off a few hundredths of a mile in either direction. And it stayed pretty accurate throughout the entire run. On my first run with it, my total distance measured 4.66 miles on the Timex Metropolitan and 4.73 miles on my Fitbit Ionic. (I’ve worn my Ionic during several races and found it to be accurate distance-wise.) For my normal weekday runs, my distance would be within a tenth of a mile on both, which is more than accurate enough for a recreational runner like myself.Comfort and fit: Smart watches with big cases (44mm and up) can look and feel clunky, especially if you have a small wrist. A 36mm or 38mm smart watch might be a better fit in this case. Right out of the box, the Timex Metropolitan was a breeze to use. It had some charge when it arrived, and I was able to set it up right away. The Timex Metropolitan paired smoothly with my not-the-newest Android phone (it also works on iOS)—I didn’t run into any snags setting it up or creating my profile, which included information like height and weight to determine things like stride length and calories burned.
