About this deal

With the flip of a switch, you can choose OC Mode which allows you to easily handle top-of-the-line games by pushing the limit of the power and performance, while Silent Mode provides an excellent quiet-gaming experience. For our game testing, we start with Control. At 4K, the Red Devil delivers 45FPS, an increase of just 2FPS compared to the reference card. This still works out as a 5% boost to the frame rate, but compared to the RTX 3080 Founders Edition, the Red Devil is 13% slower. Now, the RX 5700 XT's TDP is 225W while the R9 Fury's TDP is 275W. I TRIED to make the R9 Fury crash. I didn't change drivers, I tabbed in and out of games, ran it at 4K medium, etc. I could not get that card to crash and my PSU is an EVGA 1000 G2 Supernova (1kW, 80+Gold) so I knew that wasn't the problem and told them so. To their credit, they readily agreed that the PSU was clearly not the issue. Non-gaming power consumption of AMD's new RDNA II architecture is very impressive. In idle, the chip powers off almost completely, which brings down power consumption significantly. AMD also fixed the high multi-monitor power draw—it's now much better than NVIDIA's. Speaking of noise, the Silent BIOS runs the fans so slowly, at approximately 1060rpm, that they become effectively inaudible. The only downside here is that my particular sample exhibited a little bit of coil while which became audible once the fans were spinning so slowly. Were it not for this coil whine, I think we would have been looking at an even lower noise reading than the 35dBa recorded by our sound meter. The whine wasn't noticeable with the system fans running as normal though, so I can't complaint too strongly, but it is worth noting.

In terms of the PCB, the Red Devil's board design is generally pretty similar to reference, but PowerColor has beefed things up slightly with a 16-phase VRM for the GPU, compared to the 13-phase design used for the reference card. Here are SPECviewperf 2020 GPU reference and Red Devil RX 6800 XT benchmarks summarized in a chart together with five other cards. Red Devil RX 6800 XT Graphics Card Limited Edition provides the unique and high quality crafted Red Devil keycap to make your keyboard look Devilish. We used MSI’s Afterburner to set all video cards’ power and temperature limits to maximum. AMD Adrenalin Control Center SettingsThe author of Sandra 2020 informed us that while NVIDIA has sent some optimizations, they are generic for all cards, not Ampere specific. The tensors for FP64 & TF32 have not been enabled in Sandra 2020 so GEMM & convolution running on tensors will get faster using Ampere’s tensor cores. BF16 is supposed to be faster than FP16/half-float, but since precision losses are unknown it has not yet been enabled either. And finally, once the updated CUDA SDK for Ampere gets publicly released, Sandra GPGPU performance should improve also. For our temperature testing, we measure the peak GPU core temperature under load. A reading under load comes from running the 3DMark Time Spy stress test for 30 minutes. For the last part of this showcase we will move to the RGB features of the card and to do that it means firing up the Powercolor Devil Zone utility... why that name Powercolor? There are so many other cooler names you could have gone with that also more clearly describe what the software does, Devil RGB, RGB Devil, or even just RGB Zone to name a few examples off the top of my head.

As is the trend the 6800XT flexes the muscles it has here chewing through even Superposition’s Extreme preset like it is nothing more than a minor inconvenience. I’m not easily impressed but the 6800XT impressed me here. Metro Exodus is a first-person shooter video game developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver in 2019. It is the third instalment in the Metro video game series based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's novels, following the events of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. (Wikipedia). With the above in mind, we ran Sandra’s intensive GPGPU benchmarks and charted the results summarizing them. We know the shuffle here, time to tear down the card and see what we have underneath that colossal epic sized heatsink assembly. As always this phase is done last after benchmarking and temperature measurements so results are as representative as possible for what you will get out of the box.Based on internal modeling and testing done by AMD engineering labs 10/5/2020 on a Radeon RX 6800 XT vs a Radeon RX 5700 XT, using measurements taken of Cache, frequency at same power uplifts, and AMD Infinity Cache uplifts. Performance may vary. RX-566

Real-time ray tracing is incredibly demanding. The latest graphics cards have dedicated hardware that’s optimized for ray-tracing. The 3DMark DirectX Raytracing feature test measures the performance of this dedicated hardware. Instead of using traditional rendering techniques, the whole scene is ray-traced and drawn in one pass. The result of the test depends entirely on ray-tracing performance. (UL). I wondered if the original card was defective because I'd never seen driver problems that could cause such violent hardware crashes (I have seen automotive drivers cause violent crashes though...lol). However, after a bit of research I learned that the crashes I experienced were similar to that of a weak PSU despite the fact that I obviously don't have a weak PSU. Video cards crash hard and violently when they're improperly fed so that's interesting... After seeing these benches, some creative users will probably upgrade their existing systems with a new card based on the performance increases and the associated increases in productivity that they require. The question to buy a new video card should be based on the workflow and requirements of each user as well as their budget. Time is money depending on how these apps are used. However, the target demographic for the reference and Red Devil RX 6800 XTs are primarily gaming for gamers.

Customizable RGB lighting and a neutral color allow the Red Devil to fit into any color scheme using the DevilZone software program. Now, since reviewers tend to review cards that get sent to them, they would have reviewed the reference cards from ATi and only high-end AIB models. Just try to find an online review for the XFX Triple-Dissipation 5700 XT, you won't. Try to find a review for the THICC III, you won't. All you'll find is the THICC III Ultra because that's the highest-end model. So where do we start with wrapping this peoples review up? I often have a lot to say in my conclusions and no doubt some of you may find it difficult to follow at times so I have been considering ways to make conclusions much easier to follow so to that end here is what will happen; I’m going to break things down into chunks, miscellaneous things first followed by bite size chunks for each criteria scored against. Idle: Windows 10 sitting at the desktop (1920x1080) with all windows closed and drivers installed. The card is left to warm up in idle mode until power draw is stable. AMD has their own ecosystem for gamers and many unique new features for the Radeon 6000 series. The Test Bed
