About this deal

Leigh Anne has a face-to-face conversation with Michael's mother Denise about adopting him. Although she seems unresponsive in the beginning, Denise finally wishes Michael the best. Michael is heavily recruited by many prestigious schools. SJ talks to coaches and negotiates on both Michael's behalf and his own. When Michael gets his grades high enough, he decides to attend the University of Mississippi (known colloquially as "Ole Miss"). But as Ole Miss was where Sean Sr. had played basketball, Leigh Anne had been a cheerleader, and Miss Sue had been as well, NCAA investigator Granger is tasked to look into the matter to determine if the Tuohys took him in and unduly influenced him just so he would play for their alma mater. Again, why mention some things if you’re not gonna follow up. There were a lot of things which just weren’t explored. They were put out there but not given any attention past the time when they were exposed. I don’t know, this whole thing kinda feels incomplete. In his senior year, Michael begins considering his college options. Football coaches from around the country tell Michael that he’s going to be an NFL player, and probably a very good one, too. They offer him full room and board, tuition-free, at their colleges. Michael begins to narrow down his choices to three schools: LSU, Tennessee, and the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). Michael seems to be most interested in Ole Miss, in part because the Tuohys, as well as his tutor, Sue Mitchell, attended school there.

but... occasionally whenever Clay interacted with Maliyah, he would say something in his inner monologue or let her act a certain way towards him, that would leave a bitter taste in my mouth. Die Geschichte von Michael Oher, der es aus schwierigen Verhältnissen in Memphis nach ganz oben geschafft hat - mit Hilfe anderer, die an ihn glauben. There were no funny scenes to break up the monotony, there was nothing extreme drama happening.....it just kept going on and on. This will be my last book by this author. Habe es auf Englisch gelesen. Man muss ein bisschen reinkommen, aber man will nicht aufhören, sobald man drin ist. Beide Erzählstränge sind lebhaft, emotional und verständlich geschrieben. Which ends up being timing when the New York mayor brings Bennett in for a private meeting. The mayor has a daughter who’s gone missing and he’s sure that she’s in danger. Since Bennett has a son in prison, the mayor is hoping the detective will help find her, and in return, the mayor will seek to shorten Bennett’s son’s service time. The mayor knows how important family is to Bennett and it pays when the detective agrees to help. These were 19 year olds - and I struggled to believe it in many instances, such as those that had anything to do with Gianna’s job or Clay’s bedroom and relationship manipulation schemes. I know not every 19 year old is the same and some are more mature but we have all been one and had friends around us who were one, and 8 years ago, when I was that age myself, I wouldn’t have believed those two were that age.

Sascha muted the channel and gave us a look that said Could it be any more obvious? "It couldn't have parsed that. There were three linguistic ambiguities in there. It just ignored them." loose ends. So many things are brought up, but not everything had a resolution. What ever happened to Clay’s dad? How’s his mom? What about his pseudo dad (Maliyah’s dad)? Three decades on from the first regular screening of the NFL on Channel 4, there is clearly a sizeable audience for American football in the UK, as evidenced by the overwhelming interest in the Giants-Dolphins regular season game due to be played at Wembley in October 2007. The people who expressed an interest in that game, amongst others, would do well to read this book, but then even non-aficionados will find plenty to interest them, without prior knowledge of the game. Kudos, Messrs. Patterson and Born, for a decent addition to the series. Eager to see what’s to come for Bennett and your collaborative efforts. I also appreciated two things about the ending, which was an improvement over the last two books. First, I liked how it wrapped up the three different plots and sub-plots, providing closure to the storylines in ways that made sense and didn’t short-change the reader. Second, at the same time, the ending still left opportunities for the return of one or two characters which could prove interesting in future books.

Tuohy also explained the intention behind a conservatorship, saying it was a way to get around NCAA’s scrutiny, since Oher was headed to college to play football.

Just as in real life, the fictionalized Oher ultimately becomes a force of nature in high school football, but how that happened and the timeline his development followed was a real bone of contention. Even though this book did remind me a bit of a few other fake dating books I’ve read in the past (specifically The Deal by Elle Kennedy with a smidge of Not Pretending Anymore by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward) - I still really enjoyed it and found it to be pretty unique in its own way. I couldn’t say it, not with my pulse hammering so loud in my ears it was like a whole drum line in there. Clay made a buzzer sound, the noise so loud a few students at the tables around us looked over their shoulders. “Impossible. No one who’s actually dating avoids PDA.”
