About this deal

When we think about muscle, we tend to think about strength or aesthetics, but in reality, muscle accounts for so much more than that. As the body’s largest endocrine organ, muscle actually determines everything about the trajectory of health and aging. Many of the conditions Dr. Lyon’s patients were experiencing were actually symptoms of underdeveloped or unhealthy muscle. Dr. Lyon's passion and expertise in advocating for a high-protein, active lifestyle shines in the book, but this is definitely a book best suited for readers who already have a foundation in health and fitness. a b "Gabrielle". This book, while very heavy with data and statistics, did motivate me to make changes in my life with regards to both exercise and diet. It's never too late to learn, or to make changes to better yourself and your life experience. Complete with exercise and suggested diet information, menus and even some recipes, it's impossible to doubt the author's commitment to her passion and mission to spread the word about her findings. As the founder of The Institute of Muscle-Centric Medicine, Dr. Lyon is in a good position to do so. Dr. Lyon's conversational writing style invites the laymen to easy-to-grasp science-based data points, value from her clinical experience and language for her piers to help them find new ways to share these concept with their own patients and clients, with a rare if not mystical personal enthusiasm as though she wrote the book for the reader. The revelation in best selling book: Forever Strong: A New, Science-Based Strategy for Aging Well, by Dr. Gabrielle Lyon - might challenge your sentimental culinary habits, prompt you to question your goals in life, invite you to take responsibility for your health and wellness, give you a simple path and process to accomplish those goals with a full understanding of why you’re pursuing them and invite you to a larger conversation that might enable your community to opt in for health. Ready for a paradigm shift? The importance of living a protein-forward diet using the most bioavailable source of protein for the consumer at different points in life

Identify all the logistical tasks that you need to do today to instill the habits that narrow the gap between your present and future selves. Take these same steps again tomorrow, the next day, and each day thereafter. Big progress comes from moving forward in small increments—not only in your health but in your mental framework. Foreshadow Failure The ISIS chapter made no sense because she did a good job ( her best role yet) but she's mad because she didn't GHETTO-fy it up Lmfaooo & if she did act super ghetto she would've complained about that too !!! She's so indecisive. Through practice, you can create a mental framework that accepts discomfort and maybe even embraces it as a sign of progress. You know that old saying that pain is just weakness leaving your body? Making change means growing, and growing isn’t always comfortable. When it comes to exercise, I tell my patients, “If you don’t want to quit at least once, you’re not working hard enough.” Hard is good. Human minds and bodies thrive under challenge, despite our tendency to seek out ways to make things easier. We all struggle with resistance, which comes in many forms. Her viewpoints and recollections are strong and she dragged me in with how pointed, reflective and snappy each story was. I appreciate that. I heard about this book on Dr. Mark Hyman’s podcast interview with Dr. Lyon called The Hidden Epidemic of Muscle Loss: The Real Cause of Obesity And Chronic Disease. Being 5 years post-menopausal I have gained about 30 pounds due to hormonal changes as well as external stress eating. I was so frustrated trying to lose the weight and failing using the same methods as I have over the years and I was desperately trying to find something different. Then, Union astounded me by describing how supportive she was of her queer step-child who alternated from calling herself a gay male, to nonbinary, to a straight trans-girl. Union was a remarkably good LGBTQ+ ally throughout most of her life, despite being a cishet woman herself. My husband and I are gay, and we still struggle with remembering pronouns for nonbinary people. We have agreed that we are going to support our son no matter what his orientation or gender identity turn out to be, but I'm impressed that a straight parent has already displayed this much open-mindedness. As a nutritionist, I was aware of much of this research. This book would be an excellent reference for nutritionists, exercise professionals, health coaches or interested lay people. It gives great information in a format that could be easily implemented by the reader. I recommend this book. Remember, you cannot negotiate with the voice of resistance; it will talk you out of your dreams and the health you deserve. It will keep you in mediocre health, or worse. Do you take it personally when the thyroid produces thyroid hormone? Of course not. So don’t take it personally when the brain produces thoughts, many of which are just noise that we need to learn to tune out. We cannot let defeatist thoughts rule. It's clear from reading this that the science of muscle is Dr Lyon's life's work. The book starts with asking the reader to consider what it might be like if they were to concentrate on what they can build (muscle) rather than what they can lose (fat). I wish I had read this in my 20s and I feel the wasted years of dieting wouldn't have been needed.
