About this deal

A good filter is absolutely key. The ‘pet smell’ in houses comes from dander: microscopic particles of skin, saliva, sweat and other proteins which can be as small as two microns (two thousandths of a millimetre) and can hang in the air for long periods of time, before settling into every fibre of your carpet and upholstery. You want to make sure that when you vacuum the dander up, it stays vacuumed. The USP here is a flexible wand that bends in the middle, with a light on the end to allow you to clean under furniture more easily. It also means the cleaner folds in half for convenient storage. Another unique feature is Shark’s “DuoClean” floorhead which contains two motorised brush rolls – one of stiff bristles, the other of rubber fins that dig deep into carpets to release more pet dirt.

With superb fittings and features to help you reach any awkward space and to ensure that your floors and carpets look at good as new every time, you need look no further than this great range of household electricals at B&M Cordless Vacuum Cleaners Cordless vacuums are on their way to being the only game in town: people love how light and portable they are compared to corded vacuums, especially in flats and small houses. Your mind might automatically cast to Dyson. But cheaper and more widely available, American challengers Shark now rival them in popularity. Corded upright vacuums are often considered best for pet hair removal because of their strong suction and Sebo — who originally manufactured industrial-strength vacuums for German hotels — have a high reputation among those in the know. I used the hair-capturing EcoBrush head on my carpets, which uses the suction of the vacuum to spin the brush, scooping pet hairs into an aperture that’s narrower than on the standard Henry head so that the suction power is more focused. It’s very noisy and not quite as good as the motorised brushes on costlier pet vacs, but did a decent job of lifting hairs and was easy to push around. Henry is also hugely practical. The 2.3m long flexible hose is perfect for reaching awkward places, and should see you vacuuming up and down your stairs with minimal effort. The first cleaning test I performed was a spillage of Cheerios on short-pile carpet. In all honesty, I didn’t have high hopes for this test because I’d already examined the clearance at the front of the floor head and it didn’t appear to have enough space to let a Cheerio through. However, I performed this test twice, once on standard power and once with the suction boosted to max power. You also don’t get any extra tools for cleaning hard floors. If your hard floor is delicate you can switch off the roller and just use the suction power of the vacuum but there’s no dedicated tool included.

The cleaner also comes with a bunch of tools and add-ons: including smaller brushes, a thin crevice tool and different sized steel tubes. There’s no supplied bag or space in/around Henry to put them, though. Regardless, they’re a tight fit, without the need for suction clips or the like, and didn’t slip off during testing. Henry Hoover review: Verdict The upholstery head is even smaller, for terrific suction, and has a lint brush ahead of the aperture. It’s best used in repeated, pulling-towards-you motions and took quite a bit of elbow grease, but achieved proper deep-clean results. This power switch is the reason I’d recommend the V12 to people with pets, ahead of Dyson’s other vacuums. It takes away the need to constantly hold down a button. This makes it easier to swap hands and navigate obstacles like sofas, dog toys and feeding bowls. All this is especially effective with the hair screw attachment which comes included in the price. (Standard cleaning heads are often defeated by long pet hairs.)We have numerous highly adaptable models, including combination full size, compact handheld and extended reach designs and even products with flexible components to help you get into every nook and cranny! Handheld Vacuum Cleaners Hard Floor Tool - The Hard Floor Tool’s special design (featuring fine bristles to the front and rear) delivers peak suction performance on all types of hard floor — laminate, tiles, vinyl and wood. Up your cleaning game with the Henry Pro Accessory Kit. Three innovative, versatile and durable tools for taking your carpet and hard floor cleaning to the next level. I have a few small gripes with the carpet cleaner. Firstly, it leaked dirty water if I left it stood upright for a few minutes (though this was easy to clean up). Secondly, despite repeated passes, some stains were too deep-rooted to lift - although the SpinScrub hand tool attachment was the most effective. It didn’t struggle with the more recent stains, so I suppose I shouldn’t expect miracles. Thirdly, I found if I sprayed too much from the pre-treatment wand, then ran the floor head over the same spot, it became extremely soapy and hard to rinse. Our selection of quality vacuum cleaners includes models from top manufacturers like Beldray, Blaupunkt, Goodmans, Henry, Hoover, Tower and even RAC!

With specialist models available - including vacuums for households with pets and for wet and dry applications, why not browse our selection of vacuum cleaners and electricals online or shop in stores at B&M? Most impressively, this model boasts Shark’s most advanced anti hair wrap technology to date, removing strands from the rollers as it goes along. Unlike previous Shark models it’s almost 100 per cent effective, and that’s coming from someone with four long-haired cats (and two Labradors). It does add a little more reach when vacuuming under things and, in handheld mode, adds a few centimetres to the length to the reach for cleaning high up places. However, with its awkward clasp fitting, you’ll probably find it easier to locate a step to stand on rather than dig out this accessory each time you want to dust a ceiling-mounted lamp shade or the top of a cupboard.Pre-treatment wand, SpinScrub hand tool, carpet and upholstery attachment and hard floor cleaning attachment

Like the Henry it uses activated charcoal to neutralise pet smells. The filter is rated as S-class (S for schwebstoff - airborne particles), a European rating that’s even more demanding than HEPA since it traps 99.9 percent of particles down to 0.03 microns. Our buyer’s guide to the best vacuum cleaners explains the complicated matter of measuring suction, but as a rough guide, look for a 600W motor or higher. And, very importantly, remember to empty the receptacle as regularly as possible: a bag or cyclone cylinder filled to the brim with pet hair will drastically reduce the vacuum’s suction power. On the plus side, when emptying the vacuum, the bags keep the contents on the inside and you don’t get the plume of dust in your face that often accompanies the opening of a bagless system. The bag is also the first line of filtering, keeping the first layer of trapped particles inside and not on a filter that you have to wash later. Every time you put in a new bag it’s like putting a brand new filter in a bag-free vacuum. From cordless vacuums for your car to handheld vacuums for small spaces to high-powered turbo models for tough surfaces, we have something to help you keep your space tidy and clean. Its main selling point is the bag system, although this is a double-edged sword. While these make emptying a lot less messy than standard cordless models, they remain an ongoing cost to both you and the environment. I’d be more comfortable with the concept the bags contained zero plastic. AiroBrush140 - Compact, lightweight and powerful, the AiroBrush140 boasts all the powerful cleaning technology of the AiroBrush — just in a smaller size! Perfect for spotless stairs, sofa, car seats and all those other awkward spots.
