About this deal

GPods surprised us with its sound quality. The buds offers a clear and balanced tone and do a good job of capturing the details of music: high frequency is bright; the bass is solid and strong but not overwhelming. It don’t offer an intense, sometimes tiring listening experience as some of the other mainstream options in the market. Given the issues with this feature, it might be a better idea to simply turn it off and save an extra hour of battery life. The buds offer up to five hours with one charge, and 20 hours with the case. The sound was the first thing to be tested. We played fast and slow music on high and low volumes to the result. I think all sounds were clear and crisp tones with any kind of music and volume; the base is my personal favorite (Electronic music sounds great in GPods). The great sound of GPods stays the same for both ios and Android devices. If you want to show off the earbuds, Bright is the mode that's ideal. This delivers a constant light across the surface of the stalks, and it isn't dynamic. Finally, there's a Breath mode that pulses the lights on or off. Even with the brightness set to medium, the lighting is bright enough that it is visible in daylight, and the vivid lighting is definitely the biggest differentiator here. On a personal note, the fact that these have RGB lighting offsets some of the limitations for my own use case, and I quite like the idea of add-on shells to change the look of the earbuds. But if you want a polished sound, high-res codecs, and better battery life, there are plenty of alternatives available.

In summary, the HHOGene Pods is an impressive design. There are numerous TWS products that have hit the market in recent years but we rarely see something that introduces new designs while also offering a reasonable price and good sound quality. If I set the volume mid-way or lower, I could have a full conversation with someone without pausing my content. To make the earbuds even more customizable, the company offers snap-on shells Image: Steve Smith / KnowTechie Given that the GPods are marketed as the world's first earbuds with RGB lighting, I figured that would be as good a place to start as any. The lighting extends across the stalk, and it is vibrant and highly customizable — these earbuds are sure to turn heads when you're out in public. You can also enable transparency mode if you want to hear the world around you. This allows ambient noise to come in, keeping you in tune with your surroundings. The HHOGene GPods headphones have a pretty good sound, thanks to the 10 mm dynamic drivers we have a fairly defined bass and treble, but if we are looking for maximum volume and quality, they are not spectacular in that aspect. The real autonomy offers us about 5 hours with volume at 50%, with the big box included it is possible to get an extra 20 hours easily. The touch control system is functional, it is worth mentioning the app for managing the lighting system and earphones controls, which is quite good. Nothing Ear (2) also has a unique design thanks to its see-through stalk, and while there's no RGB lighting (take note, Nothing), the earbuds look refined and they have a comfortable fit. Nothing did a great job with the sound tuning this generation, and the Ear (2) deliver a fabulous sound that's on par with the best wireless earbuds.

The HHOGene GPods offer great sound quality, and their customizable design helps them stand out in a sea of bland-looking earbuds. The beats (rhythmic modes) are very smooth. We talked about this in our latest update. The light on the earbuds moves in a well-defined wavy way depending on which music you are listening to. There's a lot to like about the GPods if you're into customization; you'll find 46 color options available as standard, and you can set up your own colors via a palette, launch the camera to take a photo and match the colors of the subject, or use an existing image.Open your mobile device, tap settings > bluetooth and then connect earbuds and mobile services. Launch the HHOGene GPods app and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection. The Hear tab lets you turn on ANC, transparency mode, or turn off noise control altogether. The Shell tab lets you preview various shells and see what they would look like on the GPods. A special point lies in its presentation of the human voice, which feels especially close to our ears. They feature a mainstream Bluetooth 5.2 version, with AAC and SBC supports.
