About this deal

Share With: You can’t go wrong sharing this one with a fan of Jim Beam. I really think longtime fans are gonna love this one. It’s different from what they’re used to but still has many of the familia traits associated with Jim Beam – most noticeably the strong corn flavor that I associated with Jim Beam. I like problems like this. I know enough to do the research on how to solve the problem and it allows me to learn something new. Thankfully, I knew that if I could get a signal into the building, a wi-fi repeater would allow the computer that they used in there to get a connection. And with a little time and experimentation with the position of the router and repeater, I got everything to work.

For Boulevardier: Stir 1.5 oz bourbon, 1 oz Campari, and 1 oz sweet vermouth with ice, and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist. Food PairingsCaramel corn, candy corn, vanilla frosting, oak, nutmeg, toffee and light bits of citrus potpourri, mint and peanuts. It’s not a complex aroma, but it’s pleasant. Some of you refer to this as the “finish” but let’s be honest. Don’t we all just want to know if it burns good? Jim Beam has been a staple in the bourbon world for years, and for many, it’s likely one of the first whiskeys they’ve ever tried. With their new Single Barrel Bourbon 108 Proof, it seems they’re raising the bar, offering a bourbon with more complexity and depth. The decision to forego filtering and increase the proof to 108 suggests a commitment to delivering a richer, more robust experience for whiskey lovers. The aroma of Jim Beam Single Barrel Bourbon 108 Proof is quite inviting. My senses are greeted with a mixture of mint, ginger, caramel, and light citrus notes. There’s also a hint of peanut, which adds a unique, nutty touch to the overall scent. Flavor Meh. That’s all this left me with. It was so watery and indistinct. You can skip this altogether. 7. Basil Hayden’s Aged 10 Years — Taste 5 Beam Suntory

Jim Beam Single Barrel 108 Proof is hand-selected by expert distillers, who carefully choose each barrel to ensure the highest quality. Less than one percent of barrels are chosen for the Single Barrel line, making it a unique and special bourbon experience. Price Range For Old Fashioned: Stir 2 oz bourbon, 1/2 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters with ice, then strain over a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist and cherry. Jim Beam Single Barrel Bourbon 108 Proof leaves me with a medium-length finish that gently warms the palate. The lingering notes of cinnamon, peanut, and oak create a pleasing aftertaste that keeps me wanting more. Rating Chocolate: Dark chocolate, in particular, can accentuate the caramel and vanilla notes, making for a delicious dessert pairing. Peanuts, corn, vanilla, oak, toffee, nutmeg and biscuity with bits of sourdough bread, waxy citrus peels, mint and fruit. For this blind tasting, I’m focusing on those eight bourbons— no rye whiskeys or Little Book (a blended straight whiskey) today — to see which one really stands out as the ultimate Beam bourbon brand. I’m keeping bottles as close to similar as possible — that is I’m not pulling a wild single barrel limited edition Jim Beam you can’t find and pretending that’s going to be comparable to Old Crow or Old Grand-Dad. The lineup today is all pretty standard bottles of Beam’s bourbons that you should be able to find and taste for yourself. There’s more than enough people putting forth their opinions on the deal so I won’t burden you with another long opinion piece. But let me say that the Japanese hold whiskey in very high regard. I lived in Japan for a few years (unfortunately before I fell in love with whiskey) and they really, really love drinking whiskey. I think it’s safe to say that Suntory will do a great job of leading Beam and building upon their long history and respected product line. And don’t forget, Four Roses is already owned by Kirin, a Japanese company. There’s nothing to fear in the deal as long as supply meets demand. And to that point, I believe Jim Beam’s first-ever single barrel bourbon is going to put that to the test in 2014 and beyond. As a whiskey enthusiast, I’ve always been on the lookout for new and interesting offerings in the world of bourbon. Recently, Jim Beam released their Single Barrel Bourbon at a higher proof of 108 and caught my attention. Intrigued by the promise of a bolder taste, I decided to dive in and explore this new addition to the Jim Beam family. Now as you are probably aware, I usually know a fair bit of what goes on in the bourbon world just because the companies reach out and tell me. But somehow I’d missed that in late 2019, Jim Beam Single Barrel was refreshed. The old white-labeled 95 proof version was retired in favor of a new 108 proof version. Much like with my mother-in-law’s home network, tastes changed since the original was created. The bourbon public wants higher proof, non-chill filtered options. And it seems that Beam was happy to cater to those changing tastes. Jim Beam Single Barrel - 108 proof
