About this deal

With a higher piece count and the additional inflation of prices we see nowadays, this set came at a significantly higher price point than that of the 2014 AT-AT Walker although the sizes are pretty much the same. In terms of minifigures, I would say the selection is great but not large enough. Expensive sets of this magnitude should include more characters.

The entirety of each leg is built three studs wide which is the perfect scale I think and these use a total of eight 3x4 modified tiles, which first appeared as Minifigure stands, in light bluish grey! This piece has only appeared in one other set, 21108 Ghostbusters Ecto-1, and there was only one of it there, so having eight of them included makes this a highly desirable set if you are looking for plenty of these useful pieces.

Overall

One of the most significant differences in the Heavy Assault Walker is the position of the legs. The front legs here are attached at a higher point and also provide fewer movement capabilities. Other than that I found the build entertaining as there is an enjoyable mixture of Technic and System construction, as well as some pretty smart techniques which are used. You begin with the main body of the AT-AT and then move on to the legs before finishing it off with constructing the head and adding the armour plating. For me the most notable technique used was how the ankle is built as it yields an incredibly accurate result, using a 1x3 tile placed over a Technic beam. This allows the tile to be raised about a quarter of a plate-width above the rest of the ankle section! Without a doubt, this combat walker remains a fan-favorite to many who cherish the Original Trilogy to this day. This is what also made it so popular in the LEGO Community. Our task today is to compare all the LEGO AT-AT versions we received throughout the years and see which one is the Best LEGO AT-AT Walker. 4483 AT-AT This particular LEGO version of the AT-AT walker came out in 2014 and has a couple of distinctive characteristics that separate it from the previous models. First of all, this version is smaller than the previous ones although it has a much higher piece count than the 2010 version, for example. Honestly, it could have been made bigger and that would have made fans more satisfied.

Includes 5 minifigures with assorted weapons and an accessory: AT-AT™ Driver, General Veers™, Snowtrooper™ Commander and 2 Snowtroopers™Ansonsten sind isngesamt 5 Figuren mit dabei, zwei Snowtroopers (die gleichen wie beim Snowspeeder Set), ein Snowtrooper Commander, der AT-AT Pilot sowie General Veers aus dem Film. In terms of the build, it is not as boring as you would expect having the four identical legs. Unfortunately, it is not as sturdy as I wish it could be. During the build, some sections fall apart when you attach them to the base. Death Star Troopers | 75035 Kashyyyk Troopers | 75036 Utapau Troopers | 75037 Battle on Saleucami | 75038 Jedi Interceptor | 75039 V-Wing Starfighter | 75040 General Grievous' Wheel Bike | 75041 Vulture Droid | 75042 Droid Gunship | 75043 AT-AP | 75044 Droid Tri-Fighter | 75045 Republic AV-7 Anti-Vehicle Cannon | 75046 Coruscant Police Gunship | 75048 The Phantom | 75049 Snowspeeder | 75050 B-Wing | 75051 Jedi Scout Fighter | 75052 Mos Eisley Cantina | 75053 The Ghost | 75054 AT-AT | 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer | 75056 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar | 75058 MTT | 75059 Sandcrawler | 75060 UCS Slave I

The easiest way to describe this motorized version is a Technic set in an AT-AT shell. The build itself is impressive and fun but the final set is nothing special. The movement of the legs is also not the same as in the movies having that it moves with two legs at a time. On sale, this set really is a must have, and even at full price I would highly recommend it if you are particularly interested in the AT-AT or the Battle of Hoth. This is by far my favourite of the four models released, and although it looks very similar to the other sets, it is superior in almost every way. At the very least I suggest purchasing a couple of Snowtroopers as they are fantastic, probably my favourite Minifigures of this entire wave! Minifigures: C-3PO, Hoth Rebel Trooper, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Snowtrooper x2, AT-AT Pilot, General Veers This set, however, has one or two positive features that we have to mention. The first one is the minifigure selection. Compared to the previous two versions which had 4 minifigures each, here there were 8 including C-3PO, Han Solo, and the less common General Veers. The second positive feature of this set was the movement capabilities. Unlike the previous two models, you could bend the legs in various different angles and also swing the head around. Although these features were present, it was still quite troublesome to change the posses without breaking it. Shortly after the motorized AT-AT Walker set from 2007 was retired in 2010, the LEGO community received a new regular version. It came cheaper than the previous model which is always rare for a re-designed set but it also has around 200 fewer parts. Compared to the original 2003 version, it does not stand even close in terms of authenticity. For this particular reason, I would not recommend this set to collectors who look for a display piece. I would rather suggest getting the older version or one of the next ones. My nephew and I love the spring loaded laser guns; the projectiles can travel at least six metres. The inside of the body is bland; there is not real detail in there, but plenty of room to store a couple of imperial storm trooper mini-figures. The final product will not come apart unless you are really careless but the designers could have done a better job nevertheless.

The design itself is not as good as it should be. I think it looks rather crude and unfinished with all the large gaps between the panels and sections. The dark grey coloring, however, really suits this vehicle and I wish I could see the old Imperial AT-AT in this color as well. Lastly I would like to comment on how nicely the armour plating is constructed as it is almost seamless. This is a real lesson in LEGO geometry and there is definitely something to be learnt from this excellent example of what can be achieved using a few hinges. The Completed Model Most UCS sets tend to be made for display with very few play features. This is far from just a display piece. Almost every panel is removable, revealing a highly detailed interior with many play features. This is my favourite of the four AT-ATs of this size by an enormous margin. It is by far the most accurate, the most fun and it includes the best Minifigures in my opinion. The legs have the widest range of motion yet seen on at AT-AT as they can now be moved inwards towards the centre of the model more than they could before. This is due to a clever bit of design since the details underneath have been recessed to make way for the legs. The joints use the same ratchet pieces as ever, but the rather unsightly inside of each leg is concealed fairly well using 4x4 dishes and some SNOT techniques which work nicely. When you take things into consideration, it could be troublesome to choose one that could be named the best. If you want an AT-AT that is accurate to the movie version, you should buy the UCS AT-AT.
