the development of the relationship? excuse me, where even was it?? there was no chemistry between the characters, nothing that'd make it believable to me, at least anyways, this isnt the story i was hoping it would be. i mean, its entertaining enough and the writing is decent, but its nothing spectacular. i would say its most likely great for prior fans for zapata, but i wouldnt recommend it to someone who wants to get to know her and her writing.

The author mentions the problems of using "but" as the connector while complimenting a person in this book. Because i'm okay with you having ten other people as your favourite but your always going to be my favourite person” Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to one of the slowest slow burns in the history of slow burns. A badass heroine like her is hard to put up with and some people don’t care or don’t want to try to know her. Expect for Ivan Lukov. Watching these two learn to skate together was super entertaining. Ivan has the biggest heart, and his banter with Jasmine couldn’t be more charming. Something I love is that their chemistry reaches a “best friend” level before it blossoms into a relationship.If you haven’t read it yet, there is still plenty of time to do that. It’s super easy to read, the story flows and the characters are to die for.

This is the story of Jasmine Santos and her determination to prove everyone – herself included – that she is one of the best figure skaters out there. I love the way it makes me feel: talented and elastic. Figure skating creates some of the most powerful feelings in the world, and it pains me that some people will never know how it feels to arrive at the final twenty seconds of a three-minute program, streaking down the ice to jazz music. This was very much the signature slow burn Zapata is known for. I love the duet style narration, even though the book was told solely from Jasmine's POV, Ivan's lines were voiced by a male narrator. Speaking of narrators- the Callie Dalton/Teddy Hamilton pairing was EVERYTHING! I loved the characters, loved the story, and loved the audio. This was a very enjoyable and entertaining read I would highly recommend! i know mz's smut scenes are bad... but pls, ma'am, i'd rather you leave it out of the picture if you're gonna write such traumatising one line smut scenes <3 i have seen nothing but good things about mariana zapata, so i was really excited to finally read one of her books. and knowing that this was a goodreads finalist in the romance category only got me even more hyped. so maybe my expectations were a little too high because ughhh! this was a massive let down. Books like this are why people are addicted to reading and neglect their everyday lives to live within the world of a good read. Where to start? The narrators were in top form, not that Callie Dalton is ever anything but perfection but that voice for Ivan just took it over the top. Give them excellent material to work with and you have an instant success.
