About this deal

Operation Ouch, Chris and Xand’s double BAFTA & Broadcast award-winning series for CBBC, continues to delight audiences around the world, with Series 12 being filmed in 2023. Throughout the series, the twins create fun and often disgusting experiments to help kids learn how the human body works. The programme results in fan mail from around the world from a young audience who want to know, above all, what they need to do to become doctors. Their second Operation Ouch tour of Australia this January was a huge hit and they hope to bring the fun to their British fans with a tour in 2018. This will be the first time hit CBBC show, Operation Ouch!, has been brought to life as an exhibition experience. Visitors will be sent on a special mission to get up close and in one case, extremely personal, with presenters Dr Chris, Dr Xand and Dr Ronx as they are shrunk, swallowed, squeezed through and spat out of Dr Xand’s digestive system during a lively, interactive and playful adventure to better understand our brilliant bodies. The fun of the exhibition won't stop at the door, as the museum and BBC have partnered to bring a retail range of interactive, informative and entertaining Operation Ouch!-themed toys, games, kits and experiments to help visitors continue to explore our brilliant bodies at home. From the tip of Xand’s tongue to his bum, we are gonna get up close and personal. We want all your senses activated leaving you a mixture of grossed out, fascinated and basically a poo boffin like me. See you there!” Dr Ronx said: “Whoooo, poo is my absolute favourite subject, and to be honest the only way to teach you about the digestive system is to make you part of it!

It's a truly spectacular show of super-sized science and one that we hope will leave people feeling entertained, empowered, and impressed with their grossness!' The programme should be used as part of the school RSHE curriculum, which you and your school will have developed to reflect the needs of your pupils and in consultation with parents. You may choose to use these clips to support your KS2 science lessons as well. Some schools choose to draw cross-curricular links with these topics and other relevant subjects. Whoooo, poo is my absolute favourite subject, and to be honest the only way to teach you about the digestive system is to make you part of it! It then describes puberty and why this happens, defining it as changing from a child to a reproductive adult and explaining the changes that happen in female and male bodies: growth spurts, body hair, strength, sperm production, egg release and hormones. We're smashing taboos with this exhibition, proving that it's not only fun to talk about everything from burps to belly rumbles and projectile vomit to poo, it's essential in understanding and maintaining a healthy relationship with our bodies. The exhibition is supported by Principal Sponsor, Andrex. Matt Stone, UK and Ireland marketing director of parent company Kimberly-Clark, said: Chris and Xand grew up in London and both trained in medicine at Oxford University, specialising in infectious disease and tropical medicine. Chris is currently an Associate Professor in the division of Infection and Immunity at UCL. He has worked as a doctor in some of the harshest and strangest environments on earth and trained the Army in survival. Chris’s expedition series Operation Iceberg for BBC Two saw a group of scientists adventure into the arctic exploring the formation and life of icebergs, whilst Chris and Xand’s debut series on Channel 4 Medicine Men Go Wild, (2008) saw them travel to remote locations such as Congo and South Georgia, in a hugely adventurous journey that sought to explore the limitations of Western Medicine. Andrex®, one of the UK's most recognisable and celebrated brands, launched in 1942. We have been the nation's favourite toilet tissue ever since. UK households use over 8 million miles worth of Andrex® every year. Get ready to make history and take part in our most epic experiment yet! Find out how your food gets mashed, pulped, squeezed and absorbed, and soak up the sights, sounds and smells of your incredible digestive system!

Inhibitions will be left at the door of the Doctors’ elusive ‘cupboard of everything’, where an investigation into some of the body’s funniest functions begins. Whether it’s exploring a set of super-sized gnashers, slipping down the oesophagus or investigating the innerworkings of the intestines, there will be plenty of giggle-worthy grossness to explore as visitors travel like a poo on a journey to discover where food goes when we eat.The exhibition will open at an exciting time in the development of the Science and Industry Museum, as it continues to undergo a multi-million-pound regeneration project that will see brand new spaces opened and significant improvements made to some of its best-loved galleries. Although this means some areas will remain temporarily closed, there is still plenty to do, see and enjoy as visitors explore 250 years of innovations and ideas that change the world.
