About this deal

Both the Chaplain and the Judiciar had their skeleton ribs painted the same as the skeleton on the Ancient’s banner, Rakarth Flesh and then Flayed One Flesh. While speed, weapons and armour are certainly important for a combat bike, they are nothing when compared with performance. The Raider Pattern Combat Bike is also excellent on the battlefield as long as its rider can dominate its bellicose Machine Spirit. With battle-brother and bike in harmony, victory is all but assured.

The Outsider shares some similarities with the Nightbringer, in that it is said that to look upon it would cause terror, much like the Nightbringer's infusion of terror in the young species produced by the Old Ones. If the Tactical Doctrine was active for your army during the previous battle round, you can change it so that the Assault Doctrine is now active. After years of collecting, buying and selling, building and painting, we realised that we had amassed a small library of Build Instructions, Assembly Instructions and User Guides for various Games Workshop products.

Bikes (or horses, or were-bears), Outrider with power fist, 2x power weapons of choice - 230 points (compares favorably to a lot of melee units) Veteran Marines ( Sternguard Veteran • Vanguard Veteran • Veteran Intercessor • Veteran Assault Intercessor • Bladeguard Veteran) • Terminator Squad • Terminator Assault Squad Unlike its fellow Star Gods, the Outsider is rumored to have in fact gone into self-imposed exile some time ago and is currently taking up residence within a planetoid outside the southern edge of the galaxy.

Also that's 30 assault marines. I'm just coming off of 40k where if you have three squads of 5 you have a lot of assault marines. I own 20 assault marines who look old school enough to work for 30k, and if I really wanted to start chopping apart some of my 40k dudes, I could maybe, mayyyybe make another 10. Any more than that and I've got to open my wallet and spend more time building, when I want to just focus on painting the dudes I have and purchasing a few cool models I don't have anything like currently (like a leviathan dreadnought). Primaris Apothecary ( Helix Adept • Apothecary Biologis) • Primaris Librarian • Vanguard Librarian • Primaris Chaplain ( Judiciar) • Primaris Techmarine All your detachments must share the same top-level faction keyword – such as [CHAOS] or [IMPERIUM] – to be able to be taken in the same army at all; a detachment of Space Marines can fight alongside a detachment of Sisters of Battle, but they would never make common cause with followers of Chaos. The Outsider, whose true name is Tsara'noga, is one of the four remaining C'tan, the Star Gods of the Necrons. The Outsider is probably the most mysterious of the four and very little is known about it. FutureDetachmentsmay place restrictions on the kinds of models you can include in your army, similar to the Armies of Renown from 9th edition. Expect new Detachments to appear in future Warhammer 40k codexbooks.Chapter Master • Master of the Keep • Master of Sanctity • Chief Librarian • Master of the Apothecarion • Master of the Forge • Master of the Watch • Master of the Fleet • Master of the Arsenal • Master of the Marches • Master of the Rites • Master of Relics • Chief Victualler • Lord Executioner • Master of Recruits • Master of Reconnaissance • Master of the Signal • Chapter Ancient • Primaris Ancient • Chapter Champion • Honour Guard

If you really can’t find a way to fit a critical unit into one of your other detachments – or maybe if you’re at a tournament and have limited models with you to make necessary swaps – you can use the Auxiliary Support detachment to transplant in an extra unit, at a cost of 2 CP. Worth avoiding unless absolutely necessary. But, beyond that, some units benefit from additional special abilitiesif they are part of a detachment – or, in some cases, a whole army – made entirely of units with a particular matching keyword, usually the keyword for the sub-faction they belong to. If you like assault marines, the Day of Revelation Blood Angels rite is pretty neat, your jump infantry deep strike on the first turn of the game and get 5+ cover. Any deep striking models get pinning on their weapons, and everyone gets +1 Initiative on the charge. I've got a twinnferno moritat. I used him one game and was honestly a little underwhelmed. Maybe I'll like him more once I get a destroyer squad for him to fly around with.On the Eradicators, I wanted to do something a little different with their melta rifles. The barrels are painted Brass Scorpion, then Sycorax Bronze, washed Seraphim Sepia, and then some Brass Scorpion re-layered at the business end of the barrel. This is a lazy way to simulate the heat-staining effect you can see on the studio models. I did a similar thing on the engines for the Outrider’s bikes. Aggressor Squad • Desolation Squad • Devastator Squad • Hellblaster Squad • Eradicator Squad • Eliminator Squad • Infernus Squad • Centurion Devastator Squad

Oh, and I'm using the Crusade List book which is, AFAIK, the most recent print of them, and it sounds like the points quoted are all still the same. Librarian ( Epistolary • Codicier • Lexicanium • Primaris Librarian • Vanguard Librarian) • Chaplain ( Reclusiarch • Primaris Chaplain • Judiciar) • Apothecary ( Primaris Apothecary • Apothecary Biologis • Helix Adept) • Techmarine A key thing to remember when building armies for 40K 9th Edition, as in its predecessor, is that some of your units’ rules and abilities maydepend on them being part of a detachment (or sometimesa whole army) composed entirely of units that share a given keyword in their rules. In its insanity it left the populated area of space and now wanders out in the void, where it fights its inner demons and feeds once more upon the stars that gave birth to it. It also had a hellish presence, and it caused madness in all who came close and many killed themselves rather than having to face the Outsider. The bases are stamped SuperSculpey, painted in a basic stone scheme with Stirland Mud and bits of aquarium flowers or Citadel Creeping Vines washed with Druchii Violet and Carronburg Crimson to tone down the color. The Quetzales Jades live on a deep yet alien jungle world, amidst the ruins of a still-active civilization. Not unlike modern day Guatemala. There are some custom transfers coming for a chapter logo and squad markings, and I plan to expand on their story in a later article.

Space Marines.

In 9th edition, you areallotted a budget ofCommand Pointsand detachments depending on the size of game you are playing – though there are always a few weird exceptions to 40k rules. This was also in 8th edition, but the rules have been fixed to prevent exploitation. Also note: this detachment doesn’t come with a dedicated transport rule. An Outrider, who is usually part of a close support Outrider Squad, is a Primaris Space Marine who rides to battle on a Raider Pattern Combat Bike. Apply a wash of Nuln Oil over the entire miniature. This will settle into the recesses and details, creating depth and shadows. It makes the model look more realistic.
