About this deal

I used the red white and blue star wreath as the focal point for my patriotic mantel. I hung the wreath on top of a frame that has blue and white gingham fabric inside. To easily hang the wreath, I took a piece of white thread, wrapped it around the top of the wreath and then tied it into a large loop. I looped the other side of the thread over the finials at the top of the frame. If you are using a square frame, you can take the other end of the thread loop and put it over the top of the frame and secure it with tape so the wreath will hang in the middle of the picture frame. Add Patriotic Elements Take the 25-inch long ribbon, fold in half, fold in half again, give it a little pinch, and add to wreath tie. Step 13 In case you missed a step or two, here are the instructions for the wreath. You can also print out the instructions with the tutorial card at the end of this post. Step 1 You’ve seen it, the American Flag. On the upper left, a blue rectangle with white stars, and red and white stripes adorning the rest of the body. How, though, did the colors of our flag come to be? Where did the stars and stripes come from? Red and White Stripes

Adjust the wires to lay as you prefer. You can loosen some of the spirals to make them appear longer or tighten others to make them shorter. You can lay some closer to the wreath or pull some further away to create a larger 3D effect. Add flags to plants or walkways for a classic touch of Americana. Using Red, White, and Blue for Your Home It could also be that the color combination is so complimentary. Red and blue are primary colors that contrast beautifully, with the white adding a dash of fresh that prevents the red and blue from becoming too overwhelming. There are 13 red and white stripes on the American flag. They represent the original 13 coloniesof the United States. This became the standard number in 1818, and it’s stayed that way since. In 1776, this was fairly easy, because there were 13 states, but the design kept having to be updated when new states were added. Using the wire cutters, cut the gauge wire to the length you desire. This will be based on how far away from the wreath you want the star to shoot. Measure it a little longer than you desire, because the wire will have a slight spiral effect. A good starting point is 10-12 inches long.

Do this with each color spray paint that you want to use. I did it three times with red, white and blue spray paint. Since we used a wire floral wreath frame, it does not require a hanging loop. It can be hung directly from a standard wreath hook. Now you can hang your wreath and enjoy! The stripes are the same width, and red is always at the top of the flag. The Blue Rectangle and White Stars As I said, this is a very easy wreath to make! I also have a tip on how to paint the stars that makes it easy and you won’t get any paint on your hands! I’m sharing that below. Patriotic Red White and Blue Star Wreath Supplies

You may have seen other red, white, and blue patriotic bandana wreaths online. But ours is different! Anywhere you go in the United States on Memorial Day or Independence Day, and even on Veteran’s Day, you’ll see the bright, cheerful combination of red, white, and blue adorning homes, businesses, and even clothing. It’s the way that Americans all across the country show their patriotism and pride in this great country. Some historians believe that Francis Hopkins, who was a New Jersey delegate to the Continental Congress, was the one who designed the flag, but this is also based on an invoice to the Board of Admiralty in 1780, for the design of the “flag of the United States of America.” However, as it turns out, he was not paid because others were consulted, as well. Layer (2) 1.5″ ribbon strips on top of (1) 2.5″ ribbon strip, fold in half, scrunch in middle, and add to the wreath ties. Step 9 So, it may just rest that the true designer of the American flag as we know it will remain a mystery for now. What Do the Colors of the Flag Mean?

No matter where you want to add it, there is no denying that red, white, and blue are always the color combination of choice for patriotic celebrations. So why not show some love for the colors and the country and put your stamp on displaying these colors? The combination of blue and white is very common and can be a fairly neutral color palette. Perhaps, then, red is a natural addition when people want to add a pop of color. It can be a bit overwhelming on its own, but when added to the soothing tones of blue and white, it can serve as a perfect compliment to brighten a space and make it feel happy and warm. The colors of red, white, and blue also make people think of summer. Longer days, barbecues, and a string of patriotic holidays likely create the connection in the minds of most Americans, but many use it for more than just hanging buntings for a Fourth of July party.

Get a 2.5″ ribbon and cut (4) 26-inches long. Then, get another 2.5″ ribbon and cut (4) 25-inches long. After you’ve done those two, get 1.5″ ribbon and cut (4) 24-inches long. Get your 1.5″ ribbons, cut one 14-inch long, trim ends into dovetails, and add ribbon tail to the wreath. Step 18 Our wreath is made with a flat wire floral wreath, which gives it a flatter look than a round foam wreath. This gives more dimension to the fabric of the bandanas. This also makes it more convenient to hang and store, and it takes up less space when it is time to put it into storage. It’s time for our monthly Handcrafted Society challenge. This month the challenge was paint something red, white and blue. So of course I immediately thought of the Fourth of July. And in Utah we also celebrate our state’s birthday on the 24th of July. So decorating with red white and blue is something I love to do in June and keep up throughout the month of July! If you are here from South House Designs, welcome!! Isn’t Diane’s patriotic wreath so pretty?? How to Make an Easy Red White and Blue Star WreathRepeat the previous 2 steps until you add ribbon tails to each wreath tie on the bottom and then the top ties. Step 11 Attach the sign to the right side of your wreath, using the pipe cleaners to tie around the metal frame. Step 7
