If you wanted a simple Commissar model for your army, this model looks to be geared with something like a bolt pistol and power sword. It may surprise you though that GW has been in the business of making female Warhammer 40k minis for years! Recently the age-old debate of female Space Marines reignited with the latest from an ex-GW employee and key insights into their release cycle even. This argument proved effective with the typically religious Imperial Guardsmen, and ended the immediate crisis. But Raine knew that many of her troops still held a deep grudge against her and might yet act upon it at some point in time. All in all, Severina looks to be worth her points in Kill Team. You just want to keep most of your force bubbled up around her. As for her weapons, the -1 AP is nice, but there’s nothing that jumps out as insane. Fearless Guardsmen spam is going to be something that most Kill Teams won’t be able to keep up with. Especially if the match transitions into the late game and you’ve still got models. Danie: Years ago, we used to have a huge war/gaming table in the (infamous in its heyday) garage, and I had an orc and goblin fantasy army that got into all sorts of scrapes, including participating in one seven-way uber-battle that turned into a bit of a legend. (As a random aside, my orcs’ marching song turns up in my story ‘Da Big Mouf’). I still play orks, though (sadly) have much less opportunity these days – my son and I do have a (much smaller) war/gaming table, and I usually face his Mechanicus. As for painting, well I , but I have the fine motor control of a three-toed sloth in mittens, so it’s not something I tend to shout about, or share on the socials! However, GW decided to throw characters into the bunch of your elite Kill Teams and had them cost usually a considerable amount of points more. To be completely honest every high ranking member of the Rifles has their moment or moments to shine as well as – in some cases – some beautiful and yet grim writing. The Sighted and everything tied to them is shown as utterly horrific and tainted beyond belief during the regiments’ many battles. Her carapace armor gives her a slightly better save, and her signature bolt pistol, Penitence, has a handy -1 AP – perfect for bringing the Emperor’s wrath to heretics and aliens alike. Severina is what you’d expect from a Guardsman model. Shes T3, hits on a 3+, has 3 wounds, and actually has a decent 4+ armor save. Guard players you will not want to miss this! It looks like Severina Raine, the new female commissar model, will be coming to all stores next week. I thought that, as this was the first scene, maybe Severina would have an evolution, an arc... She kind of does in a way but she never questions what she does and the reader is never invited to do so either. There is always something to tell the reader that he/she should root for Severina no matter what their actions are. Everything is a bit too simplistic, so that we know we're on the "right" side. As it is often said, there are no "good guys" in this universe, as every faction has its flaws. The Imperium of Man, the humans, are for the majority religious fanatics who want all the other alien races extinct because it is their birthright to rule the galaxy. Not exactly nice people, aren't they?
