About this deal

Out of respect for Captain Bannon, who had died in an earlier mission in destroying another Hiveship, Ventris assumed command of the Deathwatch team before its boarding mission. This was in breach of the Codex Astartes, when Ventris ceded command of his men on the planet to his senior Sergeant, Learchus Abantes. [4x] Upon arriving on the planet, the Space Marines were further supported by the 10th Logres regiment led by Colonel Octavius Rabelaq, the 933rd Death Korps of Krieg led by Colonel Trymon Stagler, and the PDF Regiments headed by Major Aries Satria. Lord Inquisitor Kryptman was also present to impart his extensive knowledge of the Tyranids to help the war effort, along with a Deathwatch Kill-team led by Captain Bannon. [4x] The headline release for the event is the latest entry in Graham McNeill’s chronicles of Uriel Ventris, as The Swords of Calth sets the Ultramarines captain on a new path. After crossing the Rubicon Primaris, Ventris must adjust to his new body even as old enemies return to wage war against Guilliman’s sons. What do you think about these rules? Do you think he is better than a standard captain? Are the trade-offs worth it? We’ve known for a while about this fan-favorite character coming to tabletop, however, this will be the first set of rules we’ve seen for him. Let’s go over the model and then dissect the rules.

Ventris isn’t the only beloved character returning in a new book – in fact, Penitent features two of Dan Abnett ’s greatest creations, Inquisitors Eisenhorn and Ravenor . During his conflict with the Iron Warriors, Uriel Ventris was shot in the head by a bolter round fired by his Chaos-corrupted clone, the Newborn, which led to the loss of his right eye. It was later replaced by an augmetic eye created by Magos Biologis Vianco Locard. Uriel Ventris became captain of the 4th Company of the Ultramarines Chapter when its former captain, Idaeus, sacrificed himself during the Battle of Thracia in a desperate last-ditch attempt to stop a Night Lords Chaos Space Marine offensive. A stylish bookmark featuring Ventris’ heraldry and an inspirational quotation from The Swords of Calth completes the set of themed products, and it’s perfect for keeping your place in the book while you get some paint on your Ventris model. As the warring armies close upon one another and vicious firefights erupt, the Codex lays out strategies for swiftly seizing the initiative and combining versatility with firepower. While this combat doctrine is active, improve the Armour Penetration characteristic of every Rapid Fire and Assault weapon that models in this unit are equipped with by 1.Ventris has the same characteristics as the rest of his Belisarian brethren, making him a fearsome combatant. Nine years later, he became a full-fledged Marine in the Scout Company, and was finally inducted into the Fourth Company in 909.M41. During his training, he discovered he had a natural talent for war and swore to become the best warrior Macragge had ever seen. [4x] Captain When the Adeptus Astartes fight, they employ a set of combat doctrines to eliminate the enemy. After pounding the foe with heavy weapons, warriors advance to lay down a hail of bolter fire before charging forth with chainswords roaring to finish the foe.If every unit from your army has the ADEPTUS ASTARTES keyword (excluding AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM and UNALIGNED units), this unit gains a bonus (see below) depending on which Combat Doctrine is active for your army. During the first battle round, the Devastator Doctrine is active for your army. From the second battle round onwards, at the start of the battle round, you can change which Combat Doctrine is active for your army, as follows: During the Declare Battle Formations step, for each Leader in your army, if your army also includes one or more of that Leader’s Bodyguard units, you can select one of those Bodyguard units. That Leader will then attach to that Bodyguard unit for the duration of the battle and is said to be leading that unit. Each Bodyguard unit can only have one Leader attached to it.

The sight of the Blade of Ventanus terrified M'kar, who called it the Shard of Erebus. It is not known whether this blade is one of the eight athames split from the Kinebrach Anathame, the sentient xenos weapon First Chaplain Erebus of the Word Bearers had stolen and then utilised in the plot to poison Horus, eventually turning him into an agent of Chaos. At some point before he attained his Captaincy, Ventris was seconded to the Deathwatch, the Chamber Militant of the Ordo Xenos that specialized in hunting xenos threats. [4x] [5] First up, his stat line, which is pretty in line with a captain, is pretty decent. Especially at 110 points, but his weapons make a huge difference. Ventris went on to become a hero of the Chapter himself, playing a role in most of the major conflicts to consume the Ultramarines in the final years of the 41st Millennium, including a leading part during the Invasion of Ultramar in 999.M41 by the Daemon Prince M'kar the Reborn, the Warsmith Honsou and their army of Iron Warriors Heretic Astartes and other Chaos Space Marine warbands called the Bloodborn. In the wake of the birth of the Great Rift and the dawn of the Era Indomitus, Ventris was sent to return the resurrected Primarch Roboute Guilliman to Macragge to defeat Mortarion and his Death Guard during the Plague Wars. Once you have selected an eligible unit to declare a charge, you must select one or more enemy units within 12" of it as the targets of that charge. The targets of a charge do not need to be visible to the charging unit. If you’ve read any of the novels, you’ll know that Ventris is famed for his unconventional solutions to battlefield problems, which is reflected in his Unorthodox Strategist ability. Despite Ventris's sincere belief that his actions had been correct, Learchus reported his and Pasanius's breaches of the Codex to Chapter command. Ventris and Pasanius were both arrested and placed on trial. Based on some discreet advice from Lord Calgar (passed along by First Captain Agemman), Ventris and Pasanius waived their rights to defend themselves, so as to prevent their example from being followed by others and causing anarchy in the Ultramarines. [6]

The Swords of Calth , the first new Uriel Ventris novel in a decade, headlines the Celebration. Author Graham McNeill has taken the beloved Ultramarines captain to the next level – Ventris has crossed the Rubicon Primaris, and taken his place among the new breed of Space Marines defending the Imperium. After Guilliman had left Macragge behind, a visibly aged and scarred Ventris finally caught up with the primarch in the aftermath of the Battle of Raukos, the final battle of the Indomitus Crusade, aboard his flagship, the Macragge's Honour. Ventris informed Guilliman of his brother Mortarion's assault upon Ultramar, and that the realm was likely soon to fall to the warriors of the Plague Lord if no outside help was forthcoming. Uriel Ventris is the young captain of the 4th Company of the Ultramarines Chapter of Space Marines.Newly promoted after the death of his mentor, Captain Ventris leads his warriors to the world of Pavonis, plagued by Drukhari raiders and riven with political infighting. As he unravels a conspiracy, Ventris discovers that an ancient evil lurks beneath the surface of Pavonis, and that not all his allies are quite what they appear. Crusade is a cool way to play, and is definitely a more casual, fluffy approach, so more rules for it are nice if they don’t take away from the core experience. Of all the lawless places in the 41st Millennium, the immense city of Varangantua must surely be among the most dangerous. All the tales in the Warhammer Crime range are set in its streets, and they’re joined now by a new anthology of seven loosely connected short stories set in the wake of a terrible disaster.

Iron Warriors (Novel Series) — companion series by Graham McNeill, depicting the origins and actions of Uriel's nemesis, Honsou. The whole Chapter rose in defence of the realm, aided by an Adeptus Mechanicus contingent under Magos Locard, the warband of the system-based Ordo Malleus Inquisitor Suzaku, a squad of Raven Guard Space Marines, the mobilised Ultramaran Planetary Defense Force regiments, and many civilians. The war expanded to encompass several Ultramar worlds, at least one of which was destroyed.

2:30pm: A Hero of Ultramar Reborn

In usual fashion, there’s tons of great detail on the model to make it a great painting challenge when the time comes and that time might just be next week. A district of the city has been destroyed in a fiery cataclysm. While dogged investigators rake through the rubble for clues to the catastrophe, some of Varangantua’s more unscrupulous residents take advantage of the distraction to further their own agendas. Each of the seven stories in this volume links these events in some way, building up a picture of a nightmare city gripped by turmoil.
