About this deal

To understand, how much noise reduction I am getting from these earplugs, I performed a noise reduction test with pulsed noises at increasing center frequencies (1/3 rd octave band steps), using my own ears. Any other loud environment where you want to keep your ears comfortable and safe, but still hear clearly! Foam plugs aren’t designed for listening, they’re designed for sound elimination. Obviously, they can’t perfectly remove all sound, but they are very effective at preventing vibrations in the air from making it all the way to your eardrum. The linear filter creates an even balance of sound coming through the earplugs, no matter what part of the spectrum that sound is from. Where some earplugs will mute dull high-pitched shrieks or deep bass beats, this filter will keep them intact relative to other sounds. In other words, you can expect even performance across the sound spectrum. Beyond just being soft, we also appreciate the semi-transparent material the earplugs are made of. They also happen to be hypoallergenic.

This will give less attenuation than traditional foam plug but lets them design the filter shape to some extent," Davies says. This is how we get products that claim to reduce some sounds, but not all of them. However, Davies says "the exercise seems to be accompanied by variable amounts of pseudoscience and marketing guff." Loop Experience earplugs reduce more sound than the Flare earplugs. They provide a low level of noise reduction, which means you can hear loud sounds, but sound is generally quietened enough for you to focus and reduce stress or overwhelm. Are noise-cancelling headphones better than earplugs? But a pipe like this doesn't transmit sound perfectly, so the output isn't the same as the input. "It's similar, but the natural resonances of the pipe will amplify sound at some frequencies and attenuate sound at other frequencies," Davies says. The pipe acts as an acoustic filter, which is the basis for wind musical instruments, and the thinking behind earplugs that claim to attenuate different sounds and frequencies. I placed the EarDial’s in, pulled out the EarDial’s app, and pressed the measurement button. Within a few seconds, I had my first readout of 81dB — decent enough for the purpose of this test. Vibes reduce all sound frequencies by about 22 dB. This is not quite the 30+ dB reduction of Loop's Quiet earbuds but more significant than the subtle sound smoothing of Flare Calmer earbuds.

We rank the best earplugs for concerts, festivals, and other music events, so you can enjoy every rhythm guilt-free! Name Traditional earplugs just fill the ear canal with foam to try to attenuate as much sound as possible," Davies says. "This is still the best and cheapest way to give the most attenuation with an earplug, but it works much better the higher the frequency." The sound levels within a venue will vary, dependent on where you’re standing, where the speakers are located, and the direction(s) in which the music is being played. Even the shape of the room can affect volume in different areas. While many earplugs have parts that are transparent, the inner filter parts are usually opaque or have a darker color. Not so with the EarDial HiFi earplugs, which are transparent throughout. Everything from the stem to the earwax protection valve in the deepest parts of your ear are made with soft, hypoallergenic silicone. While there was no extra literature included in the box, the inside-lid of the box guides you through four steps on how to ‘find your fit’ with Vibes earplugs. While providing some seemingly common-sense instructions, Vibes does explain that the plugs should form a comfortable seal - especially useful information for anyone who hasn't used a pair of reusable earplugs before.

I had read a lot of recommendations on the Vibes High-Fidelity Earplugs, mostly on Reddit’s many audio-related sub-forums, and also due to them being on Shark Tank — which is apparently an important factor in rating the legitimacy of a product? I’m pretty skeptical of anything that titles themselves ‘high-fidelity’, so I thought ‘why not see if they live up to the hype?’ We’re music fans here at Louder. Therefore, we test our plugs in the only proving ground we know – live music venues and band rehearsal rooms. My last recommendation is to try custom musician earplugs. They will offer the best sound quality and significantly reduced occlusion. They fit more consistently every time you wear them as they’re made for you. The sound bore is angled based on your anatomy, so sound is directed towards your eardrum. They are made to sit deeper in your ear, past what’s called the second bend, to significantly reduce occlusion. But I use them as earplugs on the underground sometimes, with no music playing, making use of the noise cancellation. Because the crowds and just the sound of the train moving can sometimes be overwhelming," she says." Some earplugs will need a case; some won’t. Carrying ability may not be the most crucial consideration, but it should be one the list.I think this makes them a good candidate for people who are sensitive to noise and find the world too loud in general. The clear option offers medium protection (NRR -11dB) and are suitable for most loud events such as nightclub gigs, band practice, and music festivals. Sitting in a louder café or walking on the sidewalk along a busy road with these earplugs feels good.

Each of these questions should be going through your mind before pulling the trigger on a pair. Earplug Comfort Considerations The perfect pair of plugs for you should be comfortable, but entirely fill your ear canal, to create a seal that prevents unwanted sound leakage. Which Types of Earplugs Are Best? Foam EarplugsAvailable in several sizes, I went with the large by going off the guideline dimensions on the box. The store clerk told me a medium will fit most adult males quite comfortably but I chose the large as it is the same sized tips for my earphones at the gym — I equate dancing to rigorous exercise so it made sense to me to get some plugs that weren’t going to be disturbed by movement.

It’s also worth pointing out that custom moulded earplugs can be priced higher than other earplugs due to their individual nature, with guidance suggesting that new ear canal impressions are taken every four years as your ears continue to grow as you get older. Are foam earplugs good? I liken these to the Etymotic ER20XS in terms of sound, but to me, these took the cake in terms of comfort — these are REALLY comfortable. I forgot they were in and my ears felt somewhat naked after the event. I did take into account that I was perhaps being a little biased as these earplugs were indeed helping me to drown out the concert and go to my happy place, but nonetheless, I was very impressed with their comfort factor. For noise levels that high, safe exposure ranges from around 10 seconds (120 dB) up to 15 minutes (100 dB), well before the end of just about any concert.Vibes Hi Fidelity Earplugs lower the levels of harsh sound, protecting your ears from damaging decibels. Reusable Design Talk to a doctor about your sound sensitivity if it’s new or causing you pain or distress. They’ll be able to recommend the best options for managing it and help you determine the kind of support or further investigation you might need, too.
