This is the first Pixar film to be released theatrically since Onward, as Soul, Luca, and Turning Red were released on Disney+ instead of being released theatrically as planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Zurg's "villainy" may have been due to the fact that Zurg (the toy) actually thinks that he is the real Zurg and not just a toy, very much like how the toy Buzz Lightyear actually thinks that he is the real Buzz and if he ever realized that he is just a toy, he will just remain evil and decides that he can be Buzz's enemy as a toy as well as be the real Zurg. It's implied that the toy Zurg is actually friendly, had he realized that he is just a toy if he chose to.
When looking at the shot where Zurg is about to finish the New Buzz off, it is noticeable that the levels on his gun are numbered to 11, a reference to Nigel Tufnel's amplifier in This is Spinal Tap. After you are finished maximizing your points with the volcano in room 2, you can direct your attention to a monster in a box. The monster is also worth 50,000 points and you can hit it from multiple angles as well. Alternate between the volcano and the monster for best success!
The film is rated PG by the MPA, unlike the main films of the Toy Story franchise which were rated G. This is the BEST tip for young children who want to “score” but can’t aim or find the difficult targets. Tell your child to keep pressing their finger on the trigger throughout the whole ride. If they keep their hand on the trigger throughout the entire ride, the lowest they will score is 1300, which will up them to the second tier of space ranger scoring. Zurg's species in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is unknown, as he is never seen not wearing his helmet.
