About this deal

For the sake of simplicity, we will not go into much depth on the discontinued models. But it is worth noting that there are a few gems out there if you are looking for a second-hand grinder. The 1Zpresso JS is a filter coffee-focused grinder that is very popular on coffee forums. This grinder was only sold on the Taiwanese market, so it is hard to get your hands on, but it is said to be highly consistent. You should take that with a grain of salt. In my opinion, the standard Jx is more suitable for manual brewing, while the ‘Pro’ is excellent for both styles of brewing. However, if money is no object, I think you should consider this grinder instead. Next-level features Don’t listen to the manufacturers and their marketing BS. Let me break down the features for you here, so you know what to go for in a grinder.

However, because the Jx’s burrs are very aggressive, it requires a lot of strength to turn the crank. Personally, I don’t find it difficult at all at a typical setting for pour over, but I’m 6.2 and in decent shape. Now, almost two years later, it’s evident that 1Zpresso is here to stay. They recently entered the Western market, and the brand name is already well-known among my Asian coffee geek friends.Likewise, the 1Zpressp ZP6 was another brew-focused model that produced very few fines. It produced a clean, crisp cup of coffee almost comparable to SSP unimodal burrs. Another superb model that has unfortunately been discontinued. In general, manual coffee grinders take around one minute to grind enough for a big cup. It does take some effort to grind by hand — I’m not going to sugarcoat it.

Manual grinders, in general, are very durable. Of course, it depends on each model, but as long as they are made of materials such as strong plastic (like the Hario Mini) or steel (such as the Porlex), you don’t have much to worry about. Overall, this grinder will serve you well when it comes to brewing methods such as the French press, pour over, Aeropress, and so on. I haven’t attempted to grind for espresso, and the company doesn’t encourage it. The antistatic plastic of the grounds bin is made out of a very soft kind of plastic. Within a year the screw thread had gotten so loose that the jar would no longer fit.K Ultra is an enhanced version of the now discontinued K-Max by 1Zpresso. Introducing enhanced creature-comfort features such as a foldable crank handle and smoothed edges in its design.

Since you will have a minuscule amount of retained, stale grounds, you can be sure that that the next dose you grind, will taste fresh. A hand grinder can help you make delicious coffee Gripping is made easy by the silicone sleeve. Plus, the wooden handle feels nice in your hand while you grind your coffee – no one wants callouses from hand grinding coffee of all things. Also, you won’t have to worry about threads on the cup getting worn down with wear and tear, which is something that could be an issue on the Jx over several years. The real difference I’ve had plenty of experience using 1Zpresso’s grinders, and they’ve never failed to offer excellent grind consistency in the fine to medium range. The JX-Pro and X-Pro offer 12.5 microns per step if you usually grind for espresso. Meanwhile, the J-Max offers even more possibilities thanks to its 8 microns per step.K-Ultra comes with a cleaning brush, cleaning blower and travel carry case to maintain your burrs and ease portability.

Here we will lay out the top things to look for when purchasing a new coffee grinder. This will help you to work out if the 1Zpresso JX Prois the right fit for you. Burr or Blade Grinder?

Alternatives: 1zpresso vs Hario vs Timemore

Handle length: The handle can make or break a hand grinder. If it’s too short, you have to spend a lot more energy grinding the same amount of beans. See the picture below for some different types. The Comandante has smaller burrs than grinders like the 1Zpresso Jx and Lido 3, which have 48 mm burrs. Especially compared to the Jx, it seems a bit slow. The C40 took 50 seconds to grind 20 g of coffee in my testing, whereas the Jx could go through the same amount of beans in just 23 seconds. Within burr grinders, you have a further choice: conical or flat burrs. Conical burr grinders direct the coffee through two cone-like ridges whereas flat burr grinders churn the coffee between two flat plates. The Skerton Pro has the general Hario aesthetics, which means understated, beautiful, and soft. It’s hard not to be enamored with this grinder.
