About this deal

CopperEase grease creates a sacrificial anode between an alloy wheel and a cast iron wheel hub, helping to prevent the wheel and hub from fusing together" C101 has poor machinability. It has a rating of 20% compared to the CZ121 free machining brass that is used as the 100% standard for comparison. Formability

EDIT: friction of the hub face *does* come in to play but i can't think how to measure or model it. It does contribute however so WT is right.I havn't seen graphite pencil dicussed. It should work but involves the (theoretical at least) possibility of galvanic corrosion of the alloy. After 5 months, the subjects said they felt no extra relief from their arthritis pain when using metallic bracelets than when using a non-metallic wrist strap. The Truth About Metallic Bracelets That's why sometimes when you pull out old pads one pad is on the metal and the other can have considerable friction material left. A combination of being frustrated with a difficult condition and the limits of both medicine and natural healing processes can lead patients to trying anything to get better. However, it is important to carry out your own research and find out the most effective treatments possible for a given condition and whether to expect a full cure. Journal of Health & Pollution: "Preliminary Study of Heavy Metals in Low-Cost Jewelry Items Available in Nigerian Markets."

NB: Clamping force is not cleanly related to how much torque is applied to fastening the wheel bolt, for all the reasons listed above about clean vs. greased threads it's impossible to *accurately* tell clamping force that will be exerted from the torquing force applied to the fastner. PLOS ONE: "Copper Bracelets and Magnetic Wrist Straps for Rheumatoid Arthritis – Analgesic and Anti-Inflammatory Effects: A Randomised Double-Blind Placebo Controlled Crossover Trial." Since I take my plugs out a lot more often than most people, increasing the risk of thread damage, this further suggests I perhaps should be using some sort of anti-seize treatment on the plugs. I've never bothered with this before either, and Taiwan is a bad place to start, since I can't usually buy anything here . The threading gives you a mechanical advantage so for energy applied through 100Nm twist onto the bolt there will be even more clamping force bolt cap to wheel to hub.Cold formability is rated as excellent and can be readily bent into shape with appropriate hand tools. Ductility

Wheel bolts/nuts are almost universally provided with tapered seats which are not always strictly required for the maintenance of concentricity - many wheel hub interfaces have a spigot. I suspect that the inclusion of a taper adds materially to the friction under the bolt head and inhibits loosening. (NC please comment). This will serve to make the preload difference greater between the lubricated and unlubricated conditions for a given tightening torque. Copper is the oldest metal used by mankind and dates to pre-historic times. Copper is found as a ‘native’ metal, which simply means that it is a metal that is found in its pure metallic form and needs no further extraction; it is also found within minerals such as cuprite, malachite, chalcopyrite, and bornite; it is also a by-product of silver production. Tin is added to copper to produce bronze and zinc is added to copper to make brass; copper is also often added to aluminium alloys to improve strength and to Corten steel to increase corrosion resistance and strength. All grades of copper have very good to excellent corrosion resistance in most environments. C101 is susceptible to the effects of corrosion if used in environments that contain halogens, sulphides and solutions containing ammonia, and oxidising acids. ForgingAluminium grease could indeed (at least theoretically) act as described. Copper grease couldn't, since its lower in the electrochemical series than the other two metals. I the past I think I've used a graphite pencil on them, but since galvanic corrosion is a (theoretical, at least) possibility with graphite, I've stopped doing that.
