About this deal

Image cards that were guessed incorrectly prior to the correct guess are taken off the tableau and placed in front of the active player. Therefore you need to get creative with not only what clue you give, but also being mindful of which of your opponents are likely to know what on earth you’re talking about. If you don’t know some of these people that well, then just try and steer clear from anything too obvious or mainstream.

However, if the clues are more about thoughts and feelings the game can also get a little introspective as well. For if you give the clue ‘anxiety’ or ‘depression’ for example. Dixit works at this level as well. If all players find the storyteller's image, or if no player finds it, the storyteller scores no points and the other players each score 2 points. Journey introduces a new artist into the mix. While Marie Cardouat uses broad brush strokes and it’s very clearly a painting. Xavier Collette blends painting and illustration to create more recognisable pictures of scenes that are bizarre and confounding. Dixit: Odyssey If all players find the storyteller’s image, or if no player finds it, the storyteller scores no points and the other players each score two points. The base game features a total of 84 cards that each have a unique and abstract image of the wildest things you could ever imagine. The object of the game is to be the first player to reach 30 points.

End Of The Turn

It’s a very easy game to explain, and learning how to play it takes just about 2 minutes, which is also why I think it’s a great game to introduce people to the world of board games. In Team Dixit, each individual player receives four cards each. After the storyteller gives the clue, the storyteller 's teammate hands a card to the storyteller for the tableau (i.e., that team contributes two cards), and each other team hands in a single card for the tableau. Each other team may discuss which card they will turn in, provided the conversation takes place in front of the other players and neither teammate shows their cards. Both the storyteller and their teammate are not allowed to vote. You may be curious as to why I’m skipping the 3 player count, but this is because playing it with 4-6 players is considered the normal way to play Dixit, with the majority of the rule books written under the assumption that you’re mostly playing it with that many players. Each player other than the storyteller scores one bonus point for each vote earned by his or her image (to a maximum of three bonus points).

The rules for Dixit Odyssey actually includes two other variants, one called Dixit Party for 6-12 players and one called Team Dixit for 6, 8, 10, or 12 players, but both are actually quite fiddly when it comes to their rules, with Dixit Party introducing an element wherein the similar votes gets more points but the storyteller can prevent other players from getting them, and Team Dixit being a watered-down team based version of the base game. The game ends when one player reaches 30 points. The player with the most points at the end of the turn is the winner. Each player (other than the storyteller) scores one bonus point for each vote earned by his or her image, with a limit of 3 bonus points maximum (even if their image has earned more than 3 votes).
