The 3D label, which is adorned with 1817, gives the impression that the date is actually inside the bottle - an integral component of its beginning. The appearance of this limited edition bottle takes on two dimensions with its startling carbon-gray color. The first of which is the technical dimension, as this shade was very popular in the automobile industry at the time, and the second is the artistic dimension. To honor the arrival of the new generation, the house released a new and exclusive cognac decanter: Hennessy 8. The cognac blend pays tribute to the heritage of the line of cellar masters of the house and the bottle represents 250 years of the finest savoir-flaire, a unique item in time. The French brand was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy. After his death, his son James continued the family business and turned it into a well-functioning Cognac house. It was actually him who created the brand Hennessy in the first place and called the company Jas Hennessy & Co.; the name it carries to date.

Tom’s works are enjoyed around the world in the field of furniture, lighting and accessories. Many of his iconic pieces are on display in museums such as the Victoria and Albert in London, the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, The Centre Beaubourg in Paris and The New York Museum of Modern Art. his collaboration with John Maeda and his artistic partners has seen the legendary VSOP penetrate industries. John worked closely with musician Kaki King and illustrator Giorgia Lupi and the trio was involved in every stage of the creative project. Together they traveled to Cognac to distill their very personal assemblage from eaux-de-vie with music, design and art. Today, Hennessy is the leader in the Cognac business with international sales of around 50 million bottles a year. The company makes its biggest percentage of profit through international export. Each new Master Blender’s Selection is as highly anticipated as the last, showing the skill that Gironde puts into his choice of casks. JonOne’s real name is John Andrew Perello, a Dominican Republic-born street artist who grew up in Harlem and has used his real-life experiences to create artworks that are bright, colorful and have a real ‘feel-good’ factor to them. Today he’s an international name, with artworks displayed in galleries as far afield as Singapore, London and Paris, as well as closer to home in New York and Miami. Initially, his work was classified as freestyle street art, but today he’s also working on painting and creating refined abstract pieces. His aim when creating this image for Hennessy was to translate the feeling he found in Cognac into one of color and sense. He says of the work, “To me, there’s an obvious harmony between my world and Hennessy’s. Hennessy Cognac is created thanks to the passion of eight generations of master blenders. It is multi-dimensional”. This edition to the VSOP Privilege Collector’s Series is the Hennessy VSOP Privilege Limited Edition Bottle, with the Peter Saville touch of magic. The result was a beautifully re-casted carafe in a graduating matte-gold color. Taking inspiration from the origin and composition of the grape itself – the ‘genome’, Saville incorporated a DNA motif into a gridded color scheme, as well as neon pink, electric blue and orange. The decanter pays tribute to one of the family members: James Hennessy, Richard Hennessy’s son. James was a pioneering member of the family who pushed for globalization and international sales. This blend is supposed to have an elegant and contemporary taste – sounds like a “facile a boire” cognac.
