These can be very invasive and can have seriously detrimental effects on gardens and the wider landscape. Species currently banned from sale are: Improving water circulation: A pond rake can help you remove debris and dead plant material, improving water circulation and oxygenation. This can be especially important in warmer months when oxygen levels can decrease, leading to fish kills and other issues. Size of your pond: The size of your pond will determine the size of the pond rake you need. If you have a large pond, you may want to consider a larger rake with a longer handle to reach all areas of the pond. Rake teeth can vary significantly. Longer teeth can pull up deeper roots, but they may also stir up more sediment. Thin, sharp teeth are best for digging into the lake or pond bottom, while flatter, wider teeth have larger surfaces that help collect pieces of weeds. Some rakes have tapered tines that may bring the best of both worlds; others have teeth with beveled, chisel-like edges meant to tear weeds out of the ground.

Then we will drop that in the middle by boat and pull it to shore. Hopefully by hand but if it's too heavy we will use a 4-wheeler to tow. Large garden pond species such as the native Iris pseudacorus (yellow flag iris) may also be too vigorousin small ponds without regularly reducing the size of the clumps

Consider how far you’ll have to stand or drive your vehicle from the shoreline. Often ponds and lakes are lined with wetlands that can make it difficult to get close to the edge.
