About this deal

Release 510 is the latest Production Branch release of the NVIDIA RTX Enterprise Driver. This new driver provides improvements over the previous branch in the areas of application performance, API interoperability (e.g., OpenCL/Vulkan), and application power management. The results were impressive. In the CUDA test, the Nvidia RTX A4000 was 1.62 times faster than the previous generation Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000 and in the RTX test 1.70 times faster. The lead over the Pascal-based Quadro P4000 was nothing short of colossal – 3.53 times faster in the CUDA test. As the P4000 does not have dedicated RT cores, it could not run the RTX test. Decode acceleration for MPEG-2, MPEG-4 Part 2 Advanced Simple Profile, H.264, HEVC, MVC, VC1, DivX (version 3.11 and

NVIDIA ® Quadro ® RTX™ 4000 combines the NVIDIA Turing GPU architecture with the latest memory and display technologies, to deliver the best performance and features in a single-slot PCI-e form factor. Enjoy greater fluidity with photorealistic rendering, experience faster performance with AI-enabled applications and create detailed, lifelike VR experiences more cost-effectively and across a broader range of workstation chassis configurations. Like most CAD tools, the most popular way to view models in Solidworks is in shaded with edges mode. Using the SPECapc for SolidWorks 2021 benchmark we saw a small improvement, generation on generation with this display style. The Nvidia RTX A4000 was 1.10 times faster than the Quadro RTX 4000 and 1.44 times faster than the ‘Pascal’ Quadro P4000. Turing SM Architecture (streaming multi-processor design that delivers greater processing efficiency)Nvidia RTX is being used to massively accelerate classic viz focused ray trace renderers like V-Ray, KeyShot and Solidworks Visualize, which we test below. However, some of the more exciting developments are coming from the AEC sector in tools like Enscape, Chaos Vantage and Unreal Engine, which really make ray tracing ‘real-time’. Vantage, for example, is built from the ground up for real-time ray tracing so can maximise the usage of RT cores within the new GPUs.

There are no hard and fast rules here as to what the RTX 4000 will be able to handle in SolidWorks Visualize, but if you’re currently pushing the limits of other 8GB GPUs, such as the Quadro M4000 or P4000, then you’ll probably need to look at the 16GB Quadro RTX 5000 or even higher. Alternatively, get smarter about how you optimise your scene. Multitasking – Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000

In preparation for the emerging VirtualLink standard, Turing GPUs have implemented hardware support according to the “VirtualLink Advance Overview.” To learn more about VirtualLink, please see https://www.virtuallink.org. Enscape is a real-time viz and VR tool for architects that uses OpenGL 4.2. It delivers very high-quality graphics in the viewport and uses elements of ray-tracing for real time global illumination. GPU rendering is nothing new; we’ve been writing about it in this magazine for ten years now. But 2019 could be the year that it really comes of age. While most of the renderers built into CAD applications still rely on the CPU, there are a growing number of impressive GPU renderers. These include SolidWorks Visualize, V-Ray NEXT GPU, Siemens Lightworks, Lumiscaphe, Catia Live Rendering or any renderer that uses Nvidia Iray. Even Luxion KeyShot, a die hard CPU renderer and one that is particuarly popular with product designers, was recently demonstrated running on Nvidia GPUs.
