The Sony HT-A9, consisting of four identical-looking wireless speakers and a hub that connects to your TV, is keen to offer a third way, reconciling convenience with improved sound quality and consistent coverage. But it also aims to offer something that neither of these categories currently does: a flexible, complete Dolby Atmos cinema, in one box. Have you never used a subwoofer before? Well, you do not have to worry about SA-SW5 300W. It is equipped with wireless technology, allowing it to connect with the soundbar or home theater system automatically. At over 30cm, the HT-A9’s speakers are taller than most soundbar surrounds, but Sony has tried to make the design as understated as possible. The front and top faces are covered in a matte perforated grille while the rear of each unit is flattened off, allowing them to sit flush against walls, and there is a concealed hook for easy rigging. The positioning and focus of the speakers is flexible but they should maintain a direct line of sight to the listening position and the ceiling, so placing them in recessed cabinets or shelves should be avoided. It’s an incredibly competent, future-proofed performer that enhances everything we watch and sets a new benchmark for Dolby Atmos soundbars at its price.

Not only that, but you can also enjoy movies. If you have a big gathering of friends or family, the subwoofer is excellent. It produces low-frequency sound. But, the best part is its clarity. You understand the dialogues, music, and environment with a cinematic experience. 2. Competitive Price If you are using an HDMI soundbar, the process is the simplest. All you need is to connect one end to your TV and the other end to your soundbar ‘TV OUT’ port. One of the biggest gripes we’ve heard about some TVs supporting just one or two HDMI 2.1 ports is that one of those belongs to the eARC port on the TV. You can easily listen and understand every sound as it does not have distortion. What more could a music lover ask for? 3. Upgrade your Sony Soundbar It may be just one unit but the HT-A7000 is an incredibly weighty 8.7kg and, at 8cm high, it’s taller than most, only just sneaking under the Sony A80J OLED TV that we test it with. I have owned both the Sony A7000 and the Samsung Q990. I was looking for something as an improvement over an old Sony STR-DN1030 and a pair of small bookshelf speakers (Q-Acoustics 2020), I didn't have the space for bigger speakers up front, or cabled speakers anywhere else.

Big and heavy for a soundbar sub. It’s substantially harder to move around than the SW3 and the shape makes it awkward to hold. During Finch, it was the Atmos spaciousness that heightened the tension in moments like the tornado scene, when objects and debris are swirling around and steel cables break under the stress. Of course, the latest James Bond romp No Time To Die has plenty of bullets, explosions, aircraft, tire-screeching car chases, overhead glass breaking, and water deluges to exploit the Atmos capabilities as well. This design and shape match Sony’s speakers and home theater systems. That’s because all their sound devices are designed with this shape in mind.

You can manually adjust those settings for yourself in the simple UI Sony provides, but most folks should be fine with just the automatic calibration. That benefits the subwoofer because it can make the sound much more engaging and offer an ultimate surround sound system.
